Join our Financial Intelligence Unit, a globally connected team at the forefront of financial crime risk management, and play a critical part in protecting the organisation by overseeing, reviewing and assessing financial crime risk alerts relating to customers and counterparties.
We are a global financial services group operating in 30 markets with 57 years of unbroken profitability. At Macquarie, you’re empowered to shape a career that is fulfilling and creates value. You will bring your insights and expertise to the task at hand and feel supported as you make your own kind of impact for a better future.
What role will you play?
As a key member of the second-line Financial Crime Risk function, you will conduct detailed assessments and investigations of potential financial crime risks, analyse complex information, and document outcomes to support informed decision-making. Working closely with business and risk stakeholders, you will provide recommendations that help strengthen controls, mitigate risk, and ensure compliance with regulatory obligations while contributing to a robust and proactive risk management culture.
You will oversee the review of adverse media, sanctions, and Politically Exposed Persons alerts escalated by first-line monitoring teams, ensuring adherence to established procedures and high-quality decision-making standards. You will conduct secondary reviews and investigations of alerts generated through transaction monitoring systems, analysing unusual or potentially suspicious activities and supporting suspicious matter reporting where required. Performing enhanced due diligence on high-risk customers and counterparties, identifying and assessing financial crime risks and ensuring appropriate risk mitigation measures are applied will be key responsibilities. You will maintain and enhance Financial Intelligence Unit procedures by contributing to initiatives and projects that improve operational efficiency and effectiveness, and proactively identify, assess, and escalate emerging risks and issues to management in a timely manner.
In addition, you will support the training, coaching and development of analysts through peer reviews, quality assurance activities, and knowledge sharing, as well as monitor the quality and timeliness of alert assessments, provide ongoing feedback and coaching to team members, and escalate performance or process concerns to team leaders as appropriate to promote continuous improvement and maintain regulatory compliance.
