Power Plant Superintendent

Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Power Plant Superintendent to support a unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia.

Job Responsibilities

The Power Plant Superintendent is responsible for supervising and managing all operational aspects of the power plant to ensure the reliability, safety, and efficiency of power generation. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Supervising and overseeing the operation of three-phase/60 Hz diesel engine-driven generators rated at a minimum of 1,000 kW and its associated systems and equipment.
• Monitoring power plant operations, ensuring compliance with safety standards, operational protocols, and efficiency requirements.
• Directing and assigning tasks to power plant personnel to meet operational and maintenance schedules.
• Developing and implementing procedures to optimize power generation and efficiency while minimizing downtime.
• Troubleshooting and addressing technical issues related to generator equipment and power distribution systems.
• Preparing and maintaining documentation for operational activities, maintenance, and compliance audits.
• Conducting regular inspections and audits of power plant equipment to ensure proper functionality and readiness.
• Ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, safety standards, and technical specifications.
• Coordinating and communicating with upper management, project leaders, and team members to accomplish power generation goals.
  
  

• At least three (3) years of documented experience operating three-phase/60 Hz diesel engine-driven generators rated at a minimum of 1,000 kW and its associated equipment and systems.
• Proven knowledge of power plant operations and maintenance, with a focus on diesel-driven generators and related power distribution systems.
• Familiarity with applicable safety standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in a power plant or industrial setting.
• Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
• Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
• Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance requirements for the duration of deployment.
  
  

• Certifications or advanced technical training in power plant operations, diesel generation systems, or equivalent fields.
• Prior supervisory experience in a power plant or large-scale operational environment.
• Experience in an OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) or austere environment working with a multi-national workforce.
• Valid country driver’s license and passport.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and management skills.
