Key Responsibilities
Legal Administrative Support
Manage and organize case files and documents, both electronically and (where necessary) for printing or bundling.
Format, proofread, and prepare court documents, correspondence, and briefs in line with Australian legal standards and instructions.
Assist with calendar and diary management, including:
Scheduling conferences, hearings, client meetings, and mediations.
Monitoring changes to court dates and appointments
Draft routine letters, emails, and simple document templates for the barrister’s review and approval.
Assist in organizing evidence, exhibits, and document bundles according to instructions.
Paralegal & Legal Research Tasks
Conduct legal research under supervision, using provided resources and tools, on case law, legislation, and relevant legal principles (primarily within Australian jurisdiction, subject to training and guidance).
Prepare concise research summaries, chronologies, and issue lists as directed.
Assist with fact checking and cross‑referencing information in documents and briefs.
Maintain organized research files and references for ongoing matters.
Practice & Workflow Support
Maintain and update matter lists, task trackers, and basic case management records as instructed.
Help manage email and document flow, including:
Sorting and flagging priority communications.
Saving documents into correct folders and naming conventions.
Support in tracking deadlines and key dates (hearings, filing dates, conferences, mediations).
Where applicable, liaise (by email, and potentially by call, if requested) with solicitors’ offices, clerks, and other stakeholders following the barrister’s instructions.
Confidentiality, Compliance & Data Security
Strictly adhere to all confidentiality obligations, non‑disclosure requirements, and information security protocols of both the employer and the client (the barrister).
Comply with ISO‑aligned information security policies and any additional procedures relating to legal confidentiality, client privilege, and data handling.
Ensure that all files, notes, and communications are stored and handled in secure systems as directed.
Qualifications Required
At least 1–2 years of experience in a paralegal, legal assistant, or legal administrative role (experience with common law jurisdictions preferred; exposure to Australian, UK, or similar systems is an advantage).
Strong written and spoken English skills, with excellent grammar and attention to detail.
Demonstrated experience in:
Document preparation and formatting;
Basic legal research;
File and information organization.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office / Google Workspace (Word/Docs, Excel/Sheets, Outlook/Gmail) and general digital tools used in an office environment.
Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Preferred
Prior experience supporting lawyers, barristers, or law firms.
Familiarity with Australian legal terminology, court processes, and document types (training can be provided, but prior exposure is a plus).
Experience working in a remote / offshore / BPO setting for international clients.
Experience using case management or document management systems.
Skills & Competencies
Exceptional attention to detail, particularly in reviewing and formatting legal documents.
Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple matters, deadlines, and priorities.
Proactive and self‑directed, able to work with limited supervision while following instructions precisely.
Analytical thinking for basic legal research and summarization.
Professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
High level of integrity, reliability, and respect for confidentiality.
Ability to adapt to the working style and preferences of a single supervising barrister, including responsiveness during agreed working hours.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday (7am - 4pm MNL time)
Must Have atleast 50mbps internet connection
