Job Summary



As a Mechanical Insulation Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for mechanical insulation projects involving HVAC ductwork, piping systems, plumbing, and related equipment. You will perform quantity takeoffs, analyze project drawings and specifications, and develop detailed estimates using company software and tools. The role requires close collaboration with the U.S.-based team and active participation in daily project coordination.



Key Functional Areas Of Responsibility

• Analyze project plans, specifications, and related documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for mechanical insulation work.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, and equipment related to duct and pipe insulation systems.
• Develop comprehensive estimates including labor costs, materials, and project overhead.
• Review mechanical and architectural drawings to identify insulation requirements and project challenges.
• Evaluate project scope and identify value engineering opportunities or cost-saving alternatives.
• Ensure all bid documents and addenda are incorporated into estimates. Prepare and submit professional and timely bid proposals.
• Assist with project handoff by communicating estimate assumptions and details to the operations team.
• Support pricing for change orders and cost impact evaluations during project execution.
• Ensure estimates comply with company standards, safety regulations, and applicable building codes.
• Stay updated on industry trends, insulation materials, and installation practices.
  
  

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering degree or related field.
• 2–6 years of experience in takeoff and estimating for duct and pipe systems.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems including HVAC and plumbing.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of duct and pipe materials, connections, and accessories.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and worksheet creation.
• Experience using takeoff or estimating software.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
