Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Laborer to support the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) program as part of a unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia.
Job Responsibilities
The Laborer supports the success of the MWR program by performing assigned duties while maintaining professionalism, safety standards, and excellent customer service. The role requires strong attention to detail, enthusiasm, and responsiveness to patron needs during day-to-day interactions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Customer Service and Interaction:
- Providing cheerful, polite, attentive, and accommodating service to patrons of the MWR program.
- Presenting a professional appearance with clean attire, including a staff uniform shirt and name tag.
- Demonstrating effective communication skills and fluency in English to assist patrons with their needs and inquiries.
- Following customer service training practices equivalent to the Navy’s MWR Star Service, Achieving Extraordinary Customer Relations (AECR) course to deliver extraordinary service.
General Labor Duties:
- Supporting a variety of MWR program operations and activities as assigned, including setup, maintenance, and breakdown of facilities and equipment.
- Assisting in ensuring all facilities and workspaces are clean, organized, and maintained to operational standards.
Safety, Certification, and Hazardous Material Handling:
- Ensuring proper handling and storage of hazardous materials in compliance with CNICINST 1710.3 CHAP 1 SEC 114 Operation of MWR Programs and other applicable standards.
- Maintaining current CPR certification and employing knowledge of lifesaving techniques when necessary.
- Following safety protocols and attending required training to work responsibly in environments where hazardous materials are present.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of experience in a customer-facing role in recreation, hospitality, or a similar environment.
- Proficient in verbal and written English to communicate effectively with patrons and team members.
- Enthusiastic, responsive, and service-oriented demeanor with a commitment to delivering excellent customer experiences.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or ability to obtain certification shortly after hiring.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn safe handling and storage of hazardous materials.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification or training in Star Service: Achieving Extraordinary Customer Relations (AECR) or a comparable customer service training program.
- Previous experience in operating or maintaining MWR or similar recreational facilities.
- Knowledge of or experience with Navy MWR program operations and standards.
- Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce.
- Valid country driver’s license.
- Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).
