Part of UK Schools, the Assessment division combines excellence in assessment with outstanding customer experience. The Assessment division has end-to-end responsibility for delivering

on-time, accurate results of high stakes UK and international qualifications to our learners and first-class customer service to all our customers.

The Assessment Division Comprises

  • Content team - accountable for the accurate delivery of our secure high stakes UK and international assessment instruments as well as non-secure content
  • Quality and improvement team - accountable for quality assurance, post results services, improvement initiatives (including assessment monitoring), regulatory research (including consultations)
  • Strategy and customer team - accountable for delivery of assessment-related transformational, strategic and customer initiatives
  • Online assessment transformation team - accountable for delivering online transformation initiatives and support of online marking system

Part of the Innovation and Support team, within the Assessment Readiness, Delivery and Transformation team, the Innovation and Support Analyst is responsible for all aspects of online assessment, ensuring that existing online assessment systems are deployed, managed and monitored effectively. Responsibilities range from initial setup of ePEN requirements for high stakes assessments, ensuring the mark completion and transfer for all assessments marked online, to finalisation of candidate results files and supporting management information. Support analyst will take a lead role on improvements to both the systems and processes used in Assessment.

The role has responsibility for all qualifications from the UK Schools General Qualifications (GQ), Vocational Qualifications (VQ), Schools international portfolio and the Pearson English International Certificate (PEIC).

Purpose

The Innovation and Support Analyst provides technical online marking system expertise within the Assessment division, as well as across UK Schools and Pearson UK as appropriate, while ensuring the strategic, timely, cost effective and error-free delivery of high stakes UK and international qualifications.

The purpose of the Innovation and Support role is to:

  • Ensure online marking systems are deployed, configured and monitored effectively
  • Assist in the finalisation of candidate results files
  • Establish effective supporting management information.
  • Be an expert in knowing, servicing and retaining our customers
  • Be accountable for the integrity by which assessment processes are devised, followed, reviewed and amended
  • Deliver on innovation for test making, taking and processing; for example, implementation of new marking quality processes
  • Make use of management information (MI) and reporting, providing visibility, driving improvement, and building confidence and trust in Assessment
  • Continuously striving to identify and implement system developments to improve the stakeholder experience

Key Accountabilities

Support online marking systems for high stakes UK and international qualifications

  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of the technical aspects of online assessment,
  • recognising and managing the challenges, risks and solutions
  • Being accountable for the delivery of online marking systems to support high stakes
  • qualifications to time, quality and budget
  • Assist in the planning, implementation and review of Online marking needs
  • Manage risk and issues logs tracking progress of online marking projects, escalating to the management team when needed

Customer expertise

  • Being an expert in knowing, servicing and retaining our customers by developing a deep understanding of qualifications within area of responsibility
  • Developing effective relationships with stakeholders across UK Schools to identify and solve customer problems for qualifications within area of responsibility

Technical Assessment expertise

  • Being the assessment expert for technical operation of online marking, onscreen testing and item banking and continually developing expertise in light of changes to the education landscape
  • Represent the Assessment division as a technical assessment expert for area of
  • responsibility, advising teams across UK Schools on assessment configuration and operational issues and influencing future changes to systems and processes for qualification processing and marking
  • Owning personal development in relation to building technical assessment expertise, including identifying training and development needs and opportunities, and being responsible for continuous professional development of self and team

Quality assurance and improvements

  • Be accountable for the integrity by which Online assessment processes are devised, followed, reviewed and amended, including driving improvements in the methodology for assuring quality of our processes and assessment instruments
  • Be able to articulate the quality assurance and improvement programme, including owning and delivering the assessment monitoring actions, for area of responsibility

Innovation

  • Understand, and be an advocate for, innovation in assessment processes and systems
  • Deliver on innovation for test creation, taking and processing; for example, delivering high stakes onscreen assessments or changing marking quality processes and systems

Strategic relationships

  • Develop and utilise relationships across the UK Schools and Pearson UK business

Data

  • Make use of management information (MI) and reporting, providing visibility, driving improvement, and building confidence and trust in Assessment
  • Be accountable for reporting accurate and timely data and information to the Online Assessment management team and wider business, escalating issues (with proposed solutions) as appropriate
