Role description:
- Undertake a development role, providing assistance to deliver distinct element of cost management assignments, undertaking practical tasks in support orf more senior colleagues, developing their full technical ability in the filed of cost/commercial management and will be able to work independently from broad instructions and gaining appreciation of Arcadis service lines and businesses
- Learn how to apply theoretical skills from their education within an office and project environment
Role accountabilities:
- Perform role in accordance with the Arcadis behavioural framework.
- Work as a project resource to support the successful delivery of specific outputs individually or as part of a team
- Develop awareness and understanding of the contribution of the wide project community in the successful delivery of projects
- Develop awareness of the contribution that GEC teams make in the overall delivery of tasks and the projects within Arcadis
- Build analytical and cost and commercial skills as well as developing communication skills including technical writing
- Deliver work that meet Arcadis quality requirements
- Use available expertise on routine tasks.
- Check own work ahead of production checking.
- Check and verify that quality requirements have been achieved in accordance with Arcadis systems.
- Successfully complete assigned technical tasks within allotted time frames and budgets.
- Contribute to a range of cost management assignments by assisting in practical tasks, and work with senior colleagues to ensure programmes of work are undertaken and project milestones are met such as preparation of cost estimate and cost plan quantification, ensuring that all quantities, rates, assumptions and exclusions are correct, preparation of Bill of Quantities, quantitative tender review and preparation of tender report, desk top evaluation of applications for payment, evaluation of contract variations to assess cost effects and identifying variances between planned and incurred costs and notify more senior colleagues of any discrepancies to ensure management has access to up-to-date and accurate information to aid their decision-making
Qualifications & Experience:
- Have a BSc Engg, Diploma in QS or equivalent in a relevant discipline
- At least 1-2 years of construction experience in consultancy or contracting.
- Awareness of Health and Safety regulations and guidelines
- Have an understanding of commercial awareness and can build ability to apply them in practice
- Skills to carry out effective research, data gathering and analysis
- Effective time management skills
- Can work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under close supervision
- Have a developing awareness of sustainable development good practice
- Practical knowledge of specialised field, including construction processes and cost and commercial management
- Proficiency in using common and straightforward cost and commercial management software and systems
