Job Summary;
The Finance Supervisor plays a key role in ensuring the efficient management of financial operations in a seafarers manning agency. The position oversees the accurate recording, reporting, and analysis of financial transactions, ensuring compliance with maritime industry regulations and internal policies. This role also involves managing the financial aspects of crew remittances, agency fees, and operational expenses and supporting decision-making processes to enhance operational efficiency.
Essential Functions
Financial Reporting and Analysis: - Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. - Provide management with periodic financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow analyses. - Monitor and report on key financial metrics to support decision-making.
Compliance and Audit Preparation: - Ensure compliance with Philippine tax laws, POEA/DMW regulations, and other maritime industry standards. - Coordinate and prepare documentation for internal and external audits. - Maintain records for VAT, tax filings, and other regulatory requirements.
Transaction Management: - Oversee crew remittance processing, ensuring timely and accurate disbursements. - Manage agency fee collections and ensure proper allocation of payments. - Reconcile bank accounts and maintain general ledger accuracy.
Budgeting and Cost Control: - Develop and monitor the agency’s budget, ensuring alignment with financial goals. - Identify and control unnecessary expenses while ensuring smooth financial operations. - Forecast cash flow requirements to maintain operational efficiency.
Team Supervision and Leadership: - Lead and mentor the accounting team, ensuring high performance and compliance with best practices. - Assign tasks, review work outputs, and provide training to enhance team competency. - Evaluate team performance and recommend opportunities for growth.
Stakeholder Liaison: - Coordinate with shipowners, crew members, and external partners regarding financial matters. - Maintain relationships with banks, government agencies, and auditors. - Address and resolve any financial issues or disputes promptly.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field from and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent professional accounting certification.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial position.
Proficiency in Financial Software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, or similar)
Strong understanding of financial compliance with Philippine tax laws, Social Security System (SSS), Pag-IBIG, Philhealth and other government agencies
In-depth knowledge of local maritime labor laws and relevant regulatory requirements, desirable but not required.
The Finance Supervisor must have a diverse and specialized set of experiences to handle the complexities of financial operations in a highly regulated environment such as financial management, systems-oriented, knowlegeable to regulatory compliance and controls and capable to lead a team and collaborate accross departments.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge: Understanding of workplace policies and procedures / Familiarity with team collaboration tools and techniques.
Skills: Strong time management and organizational skills
Abilities: Ability to maintain reliable and consistent attendance / Capacity to be punctual and meet deadlines / Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and work as part of a team / Demonstrated professionalism in all interactions and tasks.
