Your Role
As a Buyer Assistant (Retail), you will:
Analyze sales, margin, and inventory performance to identify trends, risks, and commercial opportunities.
Develop and maintain automated dashboards and recurring performance reports to track category health.
Support forecasting, budgeting, and the evaluation of promotional campaign effectiveness.
Assist Category Managers with range reviews, SKU rationalization, and new product launch support.
Monitor supplier performance, rebate tracking, and competitor pricing strategies to maintain market positioning.
What You Need
Non-negotiables
2–5+ years of experience in category analysis, retail analytics, or commercial support roles.
Advanced proficiency in data visualization and analytics tools such as Excel, Tableau, or Power BI.
Strong working knowledge of ERP systems like SAP or Ariba for complex data extraction.
Demonstrated ability to calculate product profitability and implement pricing strategies that optimize margins.
Exceptional analytical and numerical capability, with a focus on translating data into clear business narratives.
Preferred Skills/expertise
Prior experience within the Retail, Petroleum & Convenience (P&C), or FMCG industries.
Proven track record of partnering with supply chain and marketing teams to align procurement goals.
Experience in conducting post-promotion reviews and optimizing assortment based on space management data.
Ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships, including vendors, suppliers, and international logistics partners.
Highly developed commercial acumen with an eye for detail in stock management and markdown strategies.
