What are we looking for?

• At least 1-year in the IT industry.
• At least 1-year hands-on BI role on Snowflake & Power BI.
• Working knowledge of ITIL principles.
• Bachelors degree in information technology or equivalent.
• Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective and long-term working relationships.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail, with excellent analytical, active listening and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to organise and manage own work deliverables to enable timely completion of tasks autonomously.
• Demonstrate solid written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to maintain strong technical competence through a variety of learning and development options to keep skills up to date.
• Demonstrate sound experience in applying quality and best practice principles to accurately estimate the time and effort required to deliver BI solutions.
• Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge of market trends in the delivery of BI services and solutions.
• Demonstrate an excellent working knowledge of operating platforms and protocols such as Windows, Linux & Unix.

• Application, BI Support
• Engage in the analysis and review of business requirements with internal customers users and develop appropriate, robust, extensible, quality and efficient application programming code to meet requirements.
• Effectively and efficiently monitor, maintain, performance tune and troubleshoot the production application and BI portfolio.
• Work with Solution Architect and provide input into architectural decisions for the application and BI development.
• Ensure that all application, BI engineering work practices and systems processes are comprehensively documented such as architecture and design documents, as well as operational procedures.
• Ensure that ICT change management practices are adhered to with all deployments of application code ensuring statutory and JSOX obligations are met.
• Provide after-hours support by participating in a rotational On Call roster
• Delivery of new application engineering projects
• Work with stakeholders for scoping, designing, planning, engineering and implementation of new application solutions and services to meet business requirements.
• Ensure that the application code deployed meets set quality standards and align with established industry standards and best practices.
• Data Modelling and Warehousing
• Design and implement data models within Snowflake, SQL Server to support efficient reporting and analysis.
• Develop and maintain ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources into Snowflake.
• Optimize data warehouse performance for faster query responses and efficient data storage.
• Monitor query performance in Snowflake and optimize T-SQL code to ensure efficient execution.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks to improve overall data processing speed.
• Report and Dashboard Development
• Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI and other BI tools to visualize key metrics and trends.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into effective visualizations.
• Data Analysis and Insights
• Perform ad hoc data analysis using T-SQL to answer business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Analyse complex datasets to uncover patterns, correlations, and anomalies that can inform decision-making.
• Collaboration and Communication
• Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., IT, product, marketing) to gather requirements and deliver BI solutions.
• Clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Technical Skills
• Proven experience (3+ years) in designing and developing BI solutions using Snowflake, SQL Server, SSIS, and SSRS.
• Proficiency in Power BI visualization tool.
• Proficiency in data modelling concepts using dbt.
• Experience with data warehousing principles and ETL processes using Azure Data factory, Fivetran and SQL Server SSIS.
• Experience in process orchestration using Apache Airflow.
• Experience with other cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Knowledge of Python and scripting languages for data automation is an added plus.
• Familiarity with data governance and security best practices.
• Understanding of machine learning concepts and their application in BI.
