The Technical Consultant – Azure Cloud Engineer is responsible for architecting, deploying, and supporting Azure-based solutions, with a strong emphasis on infrastructure as code, automation, and enterprise networking. This role involves leading cloud migration initiatives, building secure and scalable Azure Landing Zones, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust cloud platforms aligned with industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and manage Azure infrastructure using Terraform as the primary infrastructure-as-code tool.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps for both infrastructure and application deployments.
Lead and support migrations of workloads from on-premises environments to Azure, as well as Azure-to-Azure tenant or subscription migrations.
Deploy and optimize Azure Landing Zones, ensuring compliance with cloud architecture, governance, security, and networking standards.
Implement and manage a broad range of Azure services, including compute, storage, databases, networking, and security solutions.
Design, configure, and troubleshoot complex Azure networking components such as VNets, VNet peering, VPN gateways, ExpressRoute, firewalls, and load balancers.
Support advanced networking topologies, including Azure WAN and hub-and-spoke architectures, with a focus on routing, segmentation, and hybrid connectivity.
Collaborate with solution architects to translate high-level designs into detailed technical implementations.
Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, runbooks, and architectural diagrams.
Provide advanced (third-level) support for complex Azure infrastructure and networking issues.
Required Skills and Experience
Extensive hands-on experience with Terraform for Azure, including module development, remote state management, and integration with CI/CD pipelines.
Proficient in Azure DevOps (Repos, Pipelines, Artifacts, Boards) for automation and continuous delivery.
Demonstrated expertise in migrating workloads from on-premises data centers to Azure, as well as Azure-to-Azure migrations.
Broad experience managing and implementing Azure services across IaaS, PaaS, and security domains.
Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles, including reference architectures, multi-subscription environments, and Azure Landing Zone frameworks.
Deep knowledge of Azure networking, including:
VNet design, subnetting, and IP management
VNet peering, VPNs, ExpressRoute, and hybrid connectivity
Hub-and-spoke architectures and network security controls
Proficient scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation and operational efficiency.
Solid understanding of security best practices, including identity management, RBAC, managed identities, Key Vault, policy enforcement, and tagging strategies.
Familiarity with Zero Trust security models, network micro-segmentation, and advanced Azure security features.
Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, AKS) is advantageous.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record of troubleshooting complex technical issues.
Effective communicator, capable of conveying technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
High level of ownership, accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Relevant Microsoft certifications, such as Azure Administrator Associate, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
Contractual and full-time positions available (40 hours per week).
Hybrid work arrangement.
