Network Security Engineer

Opticore IT is a specialist Network Engineer and Project Management consultancy offering a wide variety of opportunities to work within fast-paced, challenging environments across our client base spanning multiple sectors, including Finance, Broadcast Media, Telecommunications and more.

Opticore IT are currently searching for a Network Security Engineer who has strong Palo Alto knowledge to join the team. Youll join our excellent team, based in Manila.

Youll be split between operations and projects to support the Palo Alto Enterprise Infrastructure for a major financial services client, working within a global team across the UK, India, and China.

What Youll Be Doing

• Review and assess firewall policies, NAT policies, and SSL decryption configurations across all firewalls spanning multiple regions.
• Evaluate current firewall setup and data centre network topology to identify potential improvements and ensure security best practices.
• Perform a comprehensive review of the existing firewall infrastructure and provide expert recommendations for migration.
• Draft and update detailed network and firewall diagrams to accurately reflect changes post-migration, ensuring all documentation is up to date.
• Execute and troubleshoot packet captures to analyse traffic flow, identify issues, and verify proper policy enforcement.
• Collaborate with security teams to enable and fine-tune threat prevention features, including Palo Alto Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, and related modules.
• Participate in firewall change management processes, ensuring minimal disruption and compliance with organisational standards.
• Collaborate with automation/DevOps teams, supporting automated firewall/device migration processes to ensure seamless integration and operation.
• Will be asked to do Operations and engineering as there is no split between teams
• No on call requested, we can dictate the OT and on call
• Software upgrades (PAN-OS)
  
  

What youll bring:

• CCNP
• Hands on experience Palo Alto and Cisco
  
  

An excellent communicator both verbally and written

• 12 months experience within a 2nd line role support role.
• Understanding of ITIL best practices. (ITIL Foundations certification desirable).
• Customer-centric with good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• General Support and Operations background.
