The Design Manager will lead the multi-disciplinary design and coordination for data center projects from concept to handover, ensuring technical excellence, compliance with applicable standards, and alignment with client requirements, capacity, and scalability objectives. Provide day‑to‑day leadership within all engineering disciplines, mentor junior engineers, and serve as a primary technical interface with project managers, clients, stakeholders and contractors.
The role is based in Manila office.

Responsibilities
In conjunction with the Building Services team leadership in the Group, the job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop a team that effectively wins and undertakes projects across the SIT / Data Center market
- Assist section leader on Business Development.
- Supervise/prepare proposals/submissions and negotiate contracts within the SMEPF team’s framework for such activity. Authors proposal on small to medium range projects
- Acts as a Project Leader on assigned projects.
- Supervises group of Engineers in the accomplishments of their respective tasks.
Is this role right for you?
- At least a Professional Electrical Engineer (PEE) or acquired Chartership or equivalent is strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of technical and electrical design experience, with 5+ years dedicated to Data Centers (hyperscale/colo/enterprise).
- Has recognised professional institutions i.e. IEEE, NFPA, Uptime Institute certification, ANSI/TIA-942 certification, ISO 5001, etc.) or can demonstrate the equivalent level of professional knowledge, experience and skill.
- Has project management and business development experience
- Knowledge of consulting experience and successful project management experience in the Building Services /MEPF sector. Highly experience in multiple building design related to MEPF system primarily in power system analysis tools, strong knowledge in HV/MV distribution, UPS/Battery technologies, selective coordination, grounding & earthing system including ETAP analysis tools.
- Be able to demonstrate strong design ability and engineering solutions on hyperscale Data Center critical and complex projects.
- Excellent interpersonal skills across all levels, both internally and externally to Arup
- Demonstrate good all-round hands-on design/supervisory experience.
- Familiar with international and local design standards and codes such as Philippine Codes, US standards, BS, JIS, etc.
