Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship

The Communications Specialist is assigned to the Content Production Division (DCCD) within the Department of Communications and Knowledge Management (DOCK). The position will be based at our Headquarters in Manila, Philippines and relocation is required. All reasonable relocation expenses will be covered.

You will report to the Director, DCCD and may junior team members.

Your Role

As Communications Specialist, you will support content curation and content governance (overall coverage, breadth, and depth) of DOCK-managed websites to help ensure high quality, audience-centric ADB digital content. This will include responsibility for ensuring the accuracy, functionality, and consistency of DOCK-led web platforms. You will oversee content updates, coordinate with cross-functional teams, conduct quality checks, and monitor content performance across all digital platforms to support delivery of a reliable and engaging online experience.

You Will

  • Support the web content strategy and curation to ensure DOCK-led web platforms present accessible, accurate, balanced, and engaging coverage of ADBs operations, institutional activities, and corporate communications priorities.
  • Contribute significantly to the design, development, and execution of new pages and management of existing pages on DOCK-led web platforms.
  • Contribute to visual storytelling and web graphic/multimedia design initiatives and ensure all multimedia content is optimized for various web platforms.
  • Collaborate with content producers, multimedia specialists, and developers to integrate multimedia assets into web pages.
  • Contribute significantly to the management of the ADB Blog and Development Asia with a focus on content production and layout planning.
  • Contribute to the creation of corporate content calendar(s) and manage execution for DOCK-led web platforms, ensuring adherence to editorial standards and workflows.
  • Support the assessment, vetting, and validation, and client liaison, for complex and resource-intensive web content requests.
  • Contribute to editorial support (writing, editing, review) for complex and resource-intensive web content requests.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to teams and individuals and ensure their ongoing learning and development.
  • Perform other related tasks that may be assigned by the Director, DCCD.

You will need:

  • A University degree, or equivalent, in Digital Media, Communications, Information Technology or related fields; preferably at post-graduate level or its equivalent.
  • At least 8 years of relevant professional experience, including at international level and demonstrated understanding of development issues, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Experience in managing web-based communication systems for large international organizations or companies.
  • Experience developing and executing high-quality creative content for a range of platforms using Adobe Creative Suite or similar design tools in a collaborative, multicultural environment.
  • Experience using search engine optimization and web analytics tools to optimize content visibility and performance.
  • Experience with HTML/CSS and content management systems (CMS) to create, update, and maintain web pages.
  • Understanding of the impact of artificial intelligence and associated technologies on the human consumption of web content and strategies to ensure audience engagement in this context
  • Understanding of data privacy and security protocols for web platforms.
  • Superior writing and editing skills.
  • Excellent oral communications skills and team orientation.
  • Significant experience producing multimedia and social media content desired.

Additional Information

This appointment is open to internal and external applicants.

This is a fixed-term appointment for an initial fixed period of 3 years. At the end of the initial period, this appointment may, at the option of ADB, be extended once for up to 2 years, converted to a regular appointment, or ended on its expiration date. This decision will be made in the overall interest of ADB that: (a) it will require Staffs particular blend of skills and experience in the foreseeable future; and (b) Staffs performance is satisfactory and they are suitable for further employment.
