About The Opportunity

The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing payroll systems to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing. This role serves as the bridge between Payroll Operations, Product Development, and IT — ensuring that payroll technology supports business needs, comply with regulatory standards, and delivers seamless experience for clients and their employees. The Analyst provides both functional and technical expertise, overseeing day-to-day payroll system performance while driving continuous improvement initiatives.

What You’ll Get To Do

  • Design and recommend system changes, test/validate the changes, prepare the process performers for the change and deploy the change.
  • Oversee the day-to-day functionality and data integrity of payroll systems to support accurate and timely payroll processing.
  • Attend daily collaborative calls to track status and progress and communicate needs of operational team
  • Troubleshoot payroll system issues, perform root-cause analysis, and coordinate with product, IT or customer to implement solutions.
  • Participate and manage payroll system configurations, testing, and security updates to ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory policies.
  • Perform environment restores, backup management
  • Monitor system performance and ensure integrations systems are functioning correctly
  • Initiate and manage internal and external escalations end to end to resolve system-related issues in a timely or urgent manner
  • Lead and execute product release readiness effort with internal/external payroll operation teams related to the payroll system
  • Lead and execute system change management activities end to end to result in continuous payroll operation day to day
  • Partner with Payroll Operations to ensure system readiness for each payroll cycle, including updates, audits, and data validations.
  • Lead payroll system upgrades, enhancements, and automation initiatives.
  • Gather and document business requirements for new functionality, integrations, or process improvements.
  • Coordinate and perform user acceptance testing (UAT) for new features or patches.
  • Maintain internal controls and audit readiness, internal audit, and compliance initiatives.
  • Partner with stakeholders to implement policy or regulatory changes within the system.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Payroll, IT, and external vendors to maintain and oversee payroll systems
  • Develop and deliver user training, documentation, and process guides for payroll-related systems.
  • Communicate system updates, timelines, and issues clearly to business partners and leadership
  • Responsible for monitoring payroll related systems to ensure accurate and timely execution of payroll and year end activities by the customer and payroll teams.
  • Ensure timely updates to product configurations and functionality to result in full compliance and customer requirements.
  • Offer and provide in-depth analysis and recommend solutions to business, payroll, and system problems and initiatives
  • Utilize technical and analytical skills to provide support ensuring the highest quality of service delivery to user’s customer
  • Triage inquiries and issues and categorize the solution path to completion in a timely manner, at times requiring overtime to see to completion adhoc as needed
  • Engage internally with cross-functional resources to solve problems.
  • Use system analytics to increase systems and process productivity and accuracy
  • Continuously improve systems functionality across business, payroll and customer /vendor systems
  • Responsible to provide and explaining detailed system / reporting specifications to internal partners and customers
  • Create user stories, test cases, perform user acceptance and quality testing
  • Responsible for identifying issues, fixing issues, security, and release readiness, deployment, and post validation
  • Support product development and IT team with knowledge and understanding to execute on operational needs
  • Train and implement new release or changed technical process or content to internal and external partners
  • Create/update/analyze/approve program specification reporting, offering recommendations and solutions to change or resolve system-specific programming, in a timely manner
  • Create and share cost/effort estimates to internal/external partners via sound change control processing.
  • Generate, validate reports for customers & their third parties
  • Facilitate internal and external calls and provide sound guidance to internal/external teams via sound project planning execution
  • Understand and explain system features and benefits of the product line as it relates to customer needs.
  • Process Improvements – participate as a SME in quality improvement projects; lead and support internal organizational change initiatives; recommend product enhancements that will benefit our clients or the managed support model
  • Maintain the highest level of client satisfaction through a detailed understanding of the client’s business needs and business practices. Know your customer
  • Have an “I own it” attitude about deliverables, meeting deadlines and completing projects start to finish
  • EST Hours work required, requiring on-demand additional hours and most statutory holidays
  • Must have strong stress and time management capability to work under consistent state of urgent need
  • Responsible to execute all duties autonomously with minimal support

Skills And Experience We Value

  • Understanding of payroll software solutions or business application software with the ability to troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate with clients clearly and technically in both written and verbal communications
  • Ability to multi-task and perform effectively under pressure while collaborating with clients and internal groups
  • An independent learner, intellectually curious and comfortable digging for information, to understand and resolve issues
  • Ability to learn and assimilate information quickly with a desire to continually learn
  • Familiarity with integration tools and file transfer processes (ex: SFTP)
  • Experience with XML to read and write technical code
  • SQL experience and knowledge is required
  • Biztalk experience and knowledge is an asset
