Your Role: As a Billing Specialist, you will:

• Identify and resolve patient and insurance billing issues.
• Verify benefits for various service lines.
• Follow-up on denied, appealed, and reconsideration of claims.
• Manage patient AR by collecting outstanding accounts, processing payments, and discussing insurance and billing questions.
• Update insurance payor information and profiles.
• Support clinical staff, physicians, and front office staff with questions regarding insurance policies, authorizations, and payments.
• Analyze insurance processes, productivity, aging, and revenue cycle reporting.
• Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and maintain strict patient confidentiality.
• Answer incoming patient and insurance calls.
• Apply working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial Insurance Payors, Workers Compensation, and Managed Healthcare.
  
  

What You Need: Non-negotiables

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Proven success working with medical providers, support staff, and patients in a collaborative environment.
• Competency with current ICD/CPT codes and mental health or primary care coding.
• Strong ability to review and interpret patient bills and Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
• Ability to identify incorrect data and perform appropriate corrections independently.
  
  

Preferred Skills/expertise

• Accredited or certified biller/coder with mental health billing experience.
• Previous experience with medical billing software systems.
• Experience working in a fast-paced medical office environment.
• Knowledge of patient registration, charge entry, and medical policies.
• Advanced problem-solving, error detection, and interpersonal communication skills.
