Your impact

At Jacobs, our Power Solutions team is geared towards providing a more integrated approach offering end-to-end service to support our clients in energy networks, thermal generation, renewable generation and storage solutions space. We are helping our clients meet the challenges faced in countries and cities across the globe, providing innovative solutions from replacing conventional thermal power plants with renewable energy to developing demand side management strategies.  

We are currently looking for a Transmission Line Engineer to support the delivery of overhead transmission line projects. The role is expected to be a trusted advisor for clients and attain work and confidence in technical skills and ability to deliver what clients require for their business, on time and on budget. As appropriate, you will also mentor and develop other engineers to grow Jacobs offering in your area of specialty.

Responsibilities include

• Supporting the design of overhead transmission lines, including steel lattice towers and tubular pole structures.
• Assisting in key engineering analyses such as sag & tension calculations, conductor clearance assessments, and slack span analysis
• Preparing preliminary designs, technical specifications, and project documentation
• Utilizing tools such as PLS-CADD to develop and review transmission line designs
• Reviewing contractor deliverables, including design documentation and implementation schedules
• Supporting cost estimation activities and contributing to project budgeting
• Participating in site inspections, construction monitoring, and preparation of technical reports
• Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver projects on time and within budget
• Assisting in managing project deliverables, schedules, and coordination across teams
• Providing guidance and support to junior engineers while continuing to build your own technical capability.
  
  
  

Heres what youll need

• Experience in transmission line engineering, including transmission line design, structures, foundations, and line components
• Proficiency with industry tools such as PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, or PLS-TOWER is highly preferred
• Understanding of key technical areas such as sag & tension calculations, conductor clearance, and line design fundamentals
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear technical documentation and reports
• Ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams and contribute to project delivery.
• Demonstrated ability to support project delivery within time and budget constraints
• Exposure to proposal support, cost estimation, or client interaction is an advantage
