Job Summary - Staff Writer

The writer is expected to produce content in different multimedia formats such as (but not limited to) short and long-form articles, art card text, photo and video captions for the website and social media properties. He/ she/ They will also monitor reliable sources of information (official company releases, details from event coverage, legitimate social media channels).

The writer may also be asked to do admin-related work such as handling social media pages, attending event coverages , and coordinating with contributors. This position entails one weekend duty shift, preferably a Sunday. ( Ideal shift is 10 am to 7 pm). This post is not brand-centric, and he/she/they may be assigned to work for other brands under Summit Media.

• Writes a clear, effective copy that fits the voice of the brand
• Speed is of essence: expected to break news for the appropriate brand
• Articles may be in the form of the following: straight news, features, personality features, OP-EDs, listicles, affiliate, and SEO
• Interviewing skills - whether online or onsite
• Social media savvy
• Actively pitch story ideas
• Team player: Able to work with a team composed of members with varying backgrounds
  
  

• Learning how to establish industry sources
• Lead social campaigns
• Crafting content plans
• Improved writing style with editor mentorship
  
  

• Candidate must possess at least a Vocational Diploma/Short Course Certificate, Bachelor's/College Degree, Advertising/Media, Journalism, Humanities/Liberal Arts, Mass Communications, or equivalent
• Experience in breaking news is preferred
