Odoo Developer AU Technology Hybrid

Schedule: Monday to Friday (6am to 3pm PHT)

Technology & Stack

• Business domain: Industrial technology and services, with complex quoting, projects, inventory, service, and accounting workflows.
• Core platform: Odoo 19 Enterprise hosted on Odoo.sh, including Sales, CRM, Projects, Inventory, Accounting, Purchase, HR, and custom modules.
• Tech stack: Python, Odoo ORM and server framework, PostgreSQL, XML/QWeb, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, REST APIs, Git, and CI/CD on Odoo.sh.
  
  

Key Objectives

In Your First 6-12 Months You Will

• Become highly fluent in Odoo 19 development on Odoo.sh, including custom modules, views, workflows, and reports.
• Translate complex business processes into robust, maintainable Odoo configurations and customisations.
• Own specific functional areas (e.g. Sales, Projects, Inventory, Service) and continuously improve them for efficiency and data quality.
• Implement and maintain integrations between Odoo and external systems (e.g. accounting, e‑commerce, BI, or IoT tools).
• Interact with the Odoo Business Analyst and Operations team to translate business requirements into automated and efficient technical solutions within Odoo.
  
  

What will you do?

Odoo 19 Development & Customisation

• Design, develop, and maintain custom Odoo 19 modules (models, business logic, and UI) using Python and Odoo ORM.
• Create and extend views (form, list, Kanban), menus, actions, and QWeb reports using XML and Odoo templating.
• Implement server‑side business rules, computed fields, constraints, and scheduled actions for our workflows.
• Configure and customise core apps (Sales, CRM, Inventory, Projects, Accounting, HR) to match our business processes.
  
  

Integrations & Data

• Develop and consume REST/JSON APIs to connect Odoo with third‑party systems (e.g. payment gateways, shipping, external databases).
• Design efficient PostgreSQL queries via the ORM; understand indexing, performance, and data integrity.
• Support data migration, import/export, and cleaning across modules using Odoo tools and custom scripts.
  
  

Technical Quality & DevOps

• Use Git and feature branching for source control; perform code reviews and maintain clean commit history.
• Work within Odoo.sh pipelines (dev/staging/production), manage builds, test deployments, and rollback strategies.
• Write unit and integration tests for critical logic, and participate in regression testing before releases.
• Monitor performance and errors, profile bottlenecks, and implement optimisations.
  
  

Business Analysis & Collaboration

• Analyse user requirements and existing workflows; propose better designs using Odoo capabilities and customisation.
• Work closely with the business owner and key users to clarify requirements, trade‑offs, and priorities.
• Translate non‑technical descriptions into clear technical specs and implementation plans.
• Provide technical documentation and short how‑to guides for new features.
  
  

Who you are?

These are the core skills you need even if you have no prior Odoo exposure.business.

• Strong Python programming: clean, modular code, understanding of OOP, exceptions, and standard libraries.
• Solid web backend experience: building server‑side applications, handling HTTP APIs, request/response cycles.
• PostgreSQL or similar RDBMS: schema design, joins, aggregation, and optimisation basics.
• Basic front‑end skills: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript sufficient to work with Odoo XML/QWeb views and small JS widgets.
• Git: branching, merging, resolving conflicts, pull requests, and code review.
• API integration: REST/JSON, authentication (tokens/keys), error handling, and logging.
• Linux familiarity: running, monitoring, and troubleshooting Python apps on a Linux environment.
  
  

Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have Skills

These will accelerate your path to being highly effective in the role.

• Experience with Odoo (any version) as a developer or power user.
• Experience with Odoo.sh workflow and deployment.
• Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Dynamics, NetSuite, Zoho, etc.), or accounting and inventory systems.
• Prior remote work for overseas clients, especially in Australia, Europe, or North America.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing for Python projects.
• Comfort with reading business process diagrams or specs and mapping them to system behaviour.

• Critical thinking: ability to challenge existing processes, propose better options, and justify decisions.
• Strong analytical skills: quickly understand complex workflows, data dependencies, and edge cases.
• Clear written and spoken English; able to document changes, communicate blockers, and ask precise questions.
• High ownership: treats modules as "products" they're responsible for, not just tickets to close.business.
• Reliability in a remote context: consistent availability, responsiveness, and respect for deadlines.
  
  

Experience & Education

• 3+ years professional experience as a software developer (Python or similar backend stack).business.
• Demonstrable track record delivering production systems or features, preferably in business/enterprise applications.
• Bachelor's in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Prior Odoo development or ERP experience is an advantage but not mandatory.
