POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Instructional Designer designs, develops, and maintains high-impact learning solutions that enable employees to perform effectively in support of business objectives across multiple functions, including Human Resources, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Product Management, New Product Development and Introduction, Services, Sales, and Operations. This role partners closely with subject matter experts, program managers, and business stakeholders to analyze performance needs, recommend learning solutions, and develop engaging learning experiences using the Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate (ADDIE) methodology.

 

Working independently on projects of moderate scope and complexity, the Senior Instructional Designer applies comprehensive instructional design knowledge, adult learning principles, and project management practices to create eLearning, videos, virtual instructor-led training, instructor-led training, assessments, job aids, and performance support materials. The role manages stakeholder relationships, owns project execution activities, and exercises judgment within defined parameters while maintaining Vertiv learning, accessibility, localization, and brand standards.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Apply the Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate methodology to deliver instructional design projects from intake through implementation and evaluation.
  • Conduct learner, needs, task, and topic analyses to identify performance gaps and learning requirements.
  • Develop measurable learning objectives and determine appropriate instructional methods and delivery solutions.
  • Design and develop learning solutions including eLearning, videos, instructor-led training, virtual instructor-led training, assessments, work instructions, job aids, and performance support resources.
  • Facilitate meetings with subject matter experts and stakeholders to gather requirements, review content, obtain approvals, and manage project expectations.
  • Manage project plans, timelines, risks, dependencies, milestones, and deliverables for assigned projects.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment between learning solutions and business goals.
  • Apply adult learning principles, accessibility standards, learning evaluation methods, and global design standards throughout the development process.
  • Partner with learning management system administrators and other support teams to support testing, implementation, and deployment activities.
  • Analyze learner feedback, assessment results, and evaluation data to improve learning effectiveness.
  • Review and edit instructional materials to ensure quality, consistency, accuracy, and adherence to established standards.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for less experienced instructional designers as needed.
  • Support departmental continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the sharing of instructional design best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in Instructional Design, Education, Adult Learning, Communications, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of five years of instructional design, learning and development, training, or related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing instructional design projects independently.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, learning assessments, and evaluation practices.
  • Experience developing learning solutions for both technical and non-technical business topics.
  • Experience working with stakeholders and subject matter experts across multiple business functions.
  • Proficiency with instructional development tools such as Articulate Rise, Articulate Storyline, Vyond, Camtasia, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar technologies.
  • Strong project management, communication, facilitation, technical writing, and organizational skills.
  • Experience supporting global audiences and localization-ready content preferred.
  • Learning and development certifications such as ATD, CPTD, CompTIA CTT+, or similar certifications preferred.
