Minimum of 5 years experience in the Fire Services industry, including design and documentation of fire protection systems.
Educational background in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) relevant to fire services design
Proficient in Autodesk suite and Microsoft Office packages.
About The Role
As a Fire Services Designer, you help bring our Australian-based partners values into every project by creating and compiling precise, compliant fire services designs and documentation
In this role, you will ensure all deliverables are accurate, complete, and aligned with project schedules, company policies, and procedures. Your work will include preparing the technical information and calculations that support in successfully completing projects, while upholding the highest standards of safety and quality.
What Youll Be Working On
Actively promote and adhere to all company OHS policies and procedures, always ensuring a safe workplace for yourself and your colleagues. Reporting all accidents, incidents and hazards in the workplace to your supervisor/ manager.
Ensure all environmental compliance requirements are met, and all Environmental Policies and procedures are always adhered to. Participate in waste reduction and energy and water use efficiency programs.
Comply and support company Quality Management systems, processes and procedures and provide feedback. Participate in audits, both internal and external as required.
Have a complete understanding of all company procedures and the ability to compile submissions that are accurate, informed and complete.
Understand the structure and meaning of the projects Design Intent documents including but not limited to Specification Documentation and Design process.
Produce shop/design drawings as directed by the Project Manager, Team Lead or Design Manager in accordance with the National Construction Code of Australia, all relevant Australian standards and any Fire Specification and Engineering documentation.
Participate in and contribute to the full design process, including but not limited to:
Perform full project read-ins and provide briefings to the Project Manager, Team Lead, or Design Manager.
Prepare initial design drawings, client RFIs, bills of materials, technical clarifications, and design/drawing registers.
Produce drawings for submission and fabrication, including pipe fabrication sheets.
Provide daily progress updates to the Team Lead or Design Manager.
Conduct final design reviews with project leads and complete all design deliverables, including final as-built documentation.
Ensure all submission deadlines and project commitments are met.
Participate in the development and implementation of proposal strategies with any of the Project Manager, Team Lead or Design Manager and ensure this is included in the design submission.
Oversee project correspondences, databases, and processes to ensure timelines and milestones are met, seeking approvals for any proposed changes from the Project Manager, Team Lead, or Design Manager.
Review and incorporate responses to RFIs in consultation with project leads, ensuring all design updates align with client requirements and company proposals.
Ensure construction shop drawings reflect the design intent and meet client criteria.
Support business development by fostering strong, positive relationships with clients.
Participate in the ongoing project design requirements including but not limited to plans, specifications, schedule and any other drawing/model/documents as required
Assist with better efficiency during construction for the project team
Assist with value engineering solutions where we present alternative design where possible and appropriate.
Establish a relationship with the Project Delivery team during the construction period to ensure clarity.
What Were Looking For
Experience within commercial, industrial, mining, resources, or construction projects is preferred but not essential.
Demonstrated experience in applying Guidelines, statutory, Regulatory and Australian Standards (i.e. AS 2419, AS 2118, AS1670 & NCC) in live project environments is strongly preferred.
Excellent knowledge and experience with Autodesk Revit to produce BIM models up to LOD 500.
Familiarity with Aconex, Procore, or other database/document management software.
Knowledge of fire sprinkler, hydrant, hose reel, smoke detector, and EWIS system design.
Strong English communication skills at all levels.
Self-motivated and enthusiastic, with leadership experience or aspirations.
High levels of computer literacy, particularly with Autodesk products and Hydraulic Calculation Software.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure Australian environment
