We are looking for a WordPress Developer to lead the development, maintenance, and optimization of our web properties. You will be responsible for creating or maintaining high-performance, secure, and scalable websites. You’ll bridge the gap between design and technology, ensuring our brand is represented perfectly across all devices while maintaining a clean, manageable backend for our content editors.

Job Responsibilities

Theme & Plugin Development

• Build custom WordPress themes from scratch or develop "child themes" to maintain upgradeability.
• Evaluate, install, and configure industry-standard plugins, and develop custom plugins when "off-the-shelf" solutions dont meet business needs.
• Use Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) to create flexible, easy-to-use editing interfaces for non-technical staff.
  
  

• Convert Figma/Adobe XD designs into pixel-perfect, mobile-first web pages or create from scratch using HTML5, CSS3/SASS, and JavaScript.
• Proficiency with modern builders (Elementor, Oxygen, or Gutenberg/Block Editor) while knowing when to ditch them for "clean" code.
  
  

• Optimize Core Web Vitals (caching, image compression, CDN integration, and minification).
• Implement security best practices to protect against SQL injections, XSS, and brute force attacks.
• Manage a staging-to-production workflow to ensure zero downtime during core or plugin updates.
• Remediation of all security findings that will be requested by internal or external security teams.
  
  

• Act as the first line of defense for site "breaks," checkout issues, or display glitches across different browsers and devices.
• Ensure the site structure and metadata are optimized for search engine crawling.
• Able to handle incident and service request tickets.

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in WordPress development.
  
  

• Advanced proficiency in PHP, JavaScript (jQuery/Vanilla), HTML5, and CSS3.
• Solid understanding of MySQL and how WordPress stores data.
• Deep knowledge of the WordPress Template Hierarchy and Hooks (Actions and Filters).
• Experience with Version Control (Git), WP-CLI, and Local development environments (like LocalWP or Docker).
• Ability to implement technical SEO (Schema markup) and tracking pixels (GTM/GA4).
• Familiarity with REST API or Headless WordPress (using React or Next.js ) is a plus.
• Understanding of web accessibility (WCAG) standards is a plus
• Willingness to be retool and learn new technologies.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.You dont need to be a designer, but you should notice if a margin is 5px off.
• Ability to explain why "too many plugins" is a bad idea to a marketing manager or a technical person.
• You enjoy the "detective work" of finding which plugin is causing a site-wide conflict.
