Responsibilities Of This Role

This role is designed with a deliberate, hands-on onboarding phase. The successful candidate will initially work closely with delivery teams, gaining practical programming experience on the platform while shadowing existing architects to develop a strong understanding of the platform, architectural patterns, and broader operational ecosystem. Once onboarding is complete and readiness has been demonstrated, the role will formally transition into a full Solution Architect capacity.

In the Solution Architect role, the individual designs applications and services in collaboration with Enterprise Architects, other Aon Architects, and Product teams. The role supports strategic software architecture and ensures high availability for core operations. The Solution Architect provides technical solutions across products, contributes to product strategy, supports configuration and integration documentation, and may present solutions to Regional and Global Architecture Review Boards as required.

Day-to-day Responsibilities Include

• Initially gaining hands-on development experience on the platform and shadowing existing architects to build strong domain, system, and ecosystem knowledge.
• Aligning solution architecture and technology choices with business goals and strategic standards.
• Advising and guiding Product and Delivery teams on architectural decisions and best practices.
• Creating and updating solution architecture documentation; recommending improvements and alternatives.
• Researching emerging technologies and assessing their relevance to current and future solutions.
• Translating business and functional requirements into effective technical architectures and solutions.
• Design and overseeing the implementation of integrated, end-to-end solutions.
• Maintaining documentation repositories for architecture standards and methodologies.
• Evaluating and selecting the most suitable technological solutions for business needs.
• Ensuring all solutions meet requirements for technology, risk, scope, cost, quality, time, and resources.
• Modeling business and system processes with diagrams and workflow charts.
• Participating in test planning, analyzing results, and recommending enhancements.
• Identifying and minimizing technical debt in existing systems.
• Supporting short- and medium-term capacity planning for products.
• Providing mentorship and technical guidance to delivery team members.

Skills And Experience That Will Lead To Success

• A bachelors or masters degree in computer science, information technology, or a related discipline is required.
• 10+ years of development experience in Java
• 10+ years of experience in solution architecture, systems design, or software development.
• 6+ years of Springboot, Angular or React, Groovy
• Solid experience on Gradle/Maven
• Strong analytical skills to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Expertise in architectural documentation, including models and diagrams (UML, process flows, component designs).
• Background in software development and system integration, including APIs and integration patterns.
• Proven experience in cloud migration projects and designing cloud-based infrastructures (AWS, Azure DevOps, or GCP).
• Deep understanding of scalable, highly available cloud architectures and continuous delivery pipelines.
• Knowledge of cloud security, identity management, and data privacy regulations.
• Familiarity with cloud cost optimization and workload assessment.
• Experience evaluating, selecting, and implementing cloud technologies to support business goals.
• Demonstrated facilitation skills working with stakeholders at all levels.
• Track record of driving technology changes, continuous improvement, and mentoring technical teams.
• Effective communicator with clarity and confidence to both technical audience and business users
