Your Role

The Senior Software Quality Assurance Tester is responsible for leading and executing comprehensive quality assurance strategies across complex software systems. This role partners closely with development, product, and support teams to ensure high-quality, compliant, and scalable applications throughout the full software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in automation, databases, APIs, and regulated systems, and serves as a subject matter expert for testing best practices, risk management, and continuous improvement—particularly within Learning Management Systems and 21 CFR Part 11–regulated environments.

This is a remote position that operates during the (PST) Pacific Standard Time Zone.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive test strategies, plans, and procedures to ensure software functions as expected and meet business, technical, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with development and product teams to ensure quality is embedded throughout the software development lifecycle, including:
    • Clarifying ambiguities in business and functional requirements.
    • Defining success criteria.
    • Prioritizing test requirements based on risk and impact.
      • Participate in the development and documentation of User Stories, including test estimates, acceptance criteria, and validation tests in accordance with required procedures.
      • Prepare and manage complex test data sets to validate business logic, error handling, integrations, and system workflows.
      • Actively participate in developer integration testing, system integration testing, and user acceptance testing to ensure all application areas are fully tested, with defects clearly logged, prioritized, and tracked.
      • Perform in-depth manual and automated exploratory testing to understand features, uncover edge cases or unexpected behaviors, and refine or expand test coverage.
      • Execute test cycles and continuously enhance test suites as new features are incorporated into regression and other testing cycles.
      • Design, develop, and maintain automated test cases, with an emphasis on code‑based automation using tools such as Katalon and Selenium.
      • Ensure automated tests are executed within the continuous integration and continuous testing framework wherever feasible.
      • Isolate, reproduce, document, and track defects through a defect management system, ensuring timely resolution and verification of fixes.
      • Participate in code reviews and provide feedback from a quality, testability, and risk perspective.
      • Validate that all non-functional requirements are met, including performance, load, scalability, security, usability, and reliability.
      • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality processes.
      • Proactively identify and recommend continuous improvement opportunities for testing processes, tools, and quality metrics.
      • Serve as an escalation and support point for the Help Desk by providing technical review and assessment of reported defects.
      • Mentor junior QA team members and contribute to the elevation of overall QA maturity and best practices.
      • Assist in troubleshooting client helpdesk tickets and collaborate with developers to diagnose and resolve issues identified during testing.
      • Perform additional responsibilities as required to support business and quality objectives.
      • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
      • 10+ years of professional software testing experience, with a strong preference for:
        • Testing Learning Management Systems (LMS)
        • Experience working within 21 CFR Part 11–regulated systems
          • Excellent knowledge of MySQL, including complex queries and data validation for testing purposes.
          • Strong hands-on experience with PHP, including the Yii Framework.
          • Strong experience with test automation tools, particularly:
            • Katalon, with demonstrated ability to write and maintain script‑based test cases
            • Selenium and related automation frameworks
              • Solid understanding of API testing, including hands-on use of tools such as Postman.
              • Experience working with SSO solutions, including Okta, and user provisioning standards such as SCIM.
              • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, test design techniques, and quality assurance best practices.
              • Proven ability to manage, assess, and escalate risk effectively.
              • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
              • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical and non-technical information to diverse stakeholders.
              • Demonstrated ability to work independently, learn new technologies quickly, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
              • High attention to detail with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, compliant software.
              • Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams while also taking ownership of complex initiatives.
              • Must be able to conduct working hours within the PST Standard Timezone.
