Job Summary:


The Senior Associate - Solar & BESS Development will provide support on the development and contracting of utility-scale solar projects (ground-mounted, floating PV, and hybrid systems with BESS). The role will be involved on projects from early-stage concept and site identification through development, permitting, commercial readiness, EPC tendering, contract negotiation, and handover to construction. The role will support multiple projects concurrently at varying stages of development.


Key Responsibilities:


Technical Development & Grid Integration

  • Support solar site identification and pre-feasibility studies.
  • Conduct technical due diligence for site and/or project acquisition.
  • Oversee yield modeling (PVsyst) including DC/AC optimization and curtailment risk.
  • Conduct BESS sizing and performance optimization modeling (energy shifting, peak shaving, ancillary services potential).
  • Provide technical evaluation of major equipment and monitor development of such technologies.


Regulatory & Market Structuring

  • Collaborate with other business units to ensure compliance with requirements set by various regulatory bodies (DOE, COA, BIR, ERC, etc.)
  • Assess project participation of projects in offtake auctions such Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP).


Commercial & Financial Modeling Support

  • Provide necessary information for development of commercial and financial models such as capex estimates, yield, implementation, etc.
  • Build performance model solar/hybrid solar + BESS to evaluate dispatch strategies for revenue maximization.
  • Support lender/insurer presentations and bank technical Q&A.
  • Provide contract management and commercial review of projects under implementation.


Procurement & Contract Strategy

  • Facilitate tender for acquiring EPC, OE and other technical services - from identification of potential bidders, drafting of tender documents and evaluation of bids and proposals.
  • Evaluate and identify optimal implementation contract structure for pipeline projects
  • Align EPC structure with Philippine and International bankability standards.
  • Negotiate and draft engagement contracts for EPC, OE, and Supply agreements.


Pre-requisites:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Civil, Renewable Energy Engineering, or any related technical field.
  • 5–10 years in Philippine renewable energy development.
  • Experience in utility scale solar/hybrid projects 50–300 MW scale.
  • Exposure to hybrid solar + BESS projects preferred.
  • Experience in contract negotiation and contact management preferred
  • PVsyst (advanced)
  • BESS degradation and dispatch modeling
  • Familiarity with Renewable Energy Development process in the Philippines
  • Strong understanding of:
  • GEAP bidding structure
  • Corporate PPA structuring
  • WESM price volatility
  • Negotiation experience with EPC and lenders.
  • Ability to translate engineering constraints into financial and commercial implications.
