Project Manager – Railway Projects

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Project Manager to lead and oversee the delivery of major railway projects, including Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Metro Rail systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with international safety and quality standards, and coordinating Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) and system assurance activities throughout the full project lifecycle.

This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and proven experience managing complex railway projects, particularly those aligned with Japanese railway system standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead overall planning, execution, coordination, and monitoring of railway project activities.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, resources, and risk to ensure timely and successful delivery.
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for Independent Safety Assessment (ISA), Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V), and Independent Checking Engineer (ICE) activities.
  • Coordinate with engineers, assessors, auditors, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure full system integration and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable railway standards, safety regulations, and contractual requirements.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, progress updates, and project documentation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the client, contractors, and regulatory bodies.

Education & Qualifications

  • Graduate of a relevant Engineering discipline (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or equivalent).
  • Post‑graduate degrees, professional licenses, or certifications are an advantage.

Experience & Technical Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years of overall professional experience.
  • At least 10 years of solid experience in railway projects.
  • Proven experience serving as:
    • Project Manager, Deputy Project Manager, or
    • A senior supervisory or administrative lead on at least two (2) similar railway projects or contracts.
  • Direct involvement in full system delivery of LRT or Metro Rail systems, including:
    • Independent Safety Assessment (ISA)
    • Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V)
    • Independent Checking Engineer (ICE) services
  • Strong working knowledge of Japanese railway system standards is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex stakeholder environments.
