We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Merchandising Officer to support the planning, execution, and monitoring of merchandising strategies that drive sales and product performance. The ideal candidate has solid merchandising experience, strong analytical skills, and demonstrated leadership potential through leading projects, mentoring team members, or supervising a small team. This role is ideal for someone ready to take the next step into a larger leadership role.
Key Responsibilities
Execute merchandising plans to ensure product availability, profitability, and alignment with business objectives.
Analyze sales, inventory, and market trends to recommend product assortment, replenishment, and markdown strategies.
Coordinate with Buying, Planning, Marketing, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to ensure smooth product launches and inventory flow.
Monitor inventory levels and recommend actions to optimize stock availability while minimizing overstock and slow-moving items.
Prepare merchandising reports, sales analyses, and inventory performance updates for management.
Ensure merchandising standards and product presentation are consistently maintained across assigned categories.
Identify opportunities to improve product performance through data-driven recommendations.
Assist in forecasting demand and inventory planning.
Provide guidance and support to junior team members and lead merchandising initiatives or special projects when needed.
Contribute to process improvements that enhance merchandising efficiency and operational effectiveness.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Retail Management, Merchandising, or a related field.
At least 3 years of solid merchandising experience, preferably in the retail, fashion, apparel, footwear, or consumer goods industry.
Leadership experience is highly preferred, such as supervising a team, mentoring colleagues, leading projects, or acting as a team lead.
Strong knowledge of merchandising principles, inventory management, and product assortment planning.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales and inventory data.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and merchandising or ERP systems.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Demonstrates initiative, accountability, and the potential to grow into a managerial position.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience handling multiple product categories or brands.
Background in fashion, lifestyle, sporting goods, or consumer retail is an advantage.
Experience in demand planning, forecasting, or inventory optimization is a plus.
