The Legal Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and guiding all functions related to legal and compliance issues for ARI Corp and ARI BUs. The position holder collaborates in the development and implementation of strategies and manages the smooth operation of all day-to-day activities pertaining to all functions of the Legal and Compliance Team of SRRL.
Outcomes Expected And Responsibilities
Provides legal advice on legal, regulatory and compliance issues, whether industry or non-industry related (eg, energy, labor, safety, health and environment issues, regulatory, permitting, land, contracts)
Conducts due diligence on land and other legal matters, as needed
Coordinates with external counsel for legal and compliance issues
Builds partnerships with and manages identified stakeholders, with respect to all legal & compliance issues.
Coordinates and implements strategies on compliance monitoring and audit, to ensure that all permits/contracts/agreements/compliance issues are property tracked and timely complied with for all ARI BUs
Conducts legal research and develops reference materials as needed
Drafts contracts, legal opinions, contracts, agreements and other legal documents as needed
Stays current on relevant industry and government compliance programs related to renewable energy and provides updates regarding changes in legislation, regulations and other requirements that may result in organizational response.
Attends public consultations with relevant external stakeholders to represent ARI interests
Represents ARI and ARI BUs in legal proceedings, as required, and negotiates with identified stakeholders for legal and compliance issues
Facilitates timely completion of compliance matters by coordinating with relevant internal teams for submissions.
Manages and ensures the regular coordination of with identified Legal and Compliance stakeholders to ensure open communication lines
Ensures and implements proper filing of legal documents, compliances and permits.
Reports progress of all legal and compliance issues to team leaders.
Coordinates with other departments for the necessary information or assistance required for the timely submission of all legal and compliance requirements
Manages the Legal and Compliance team members to ensure efficiency and productivity
Performs other tasks as may be assigned by the team leader.

Minimum Qualifications
Must be a licensed lawyer
Must have at least 5–7 years of professional legal experience, including at least 5 years in established and reputable law firms
Must have at least 3–5 years of leadership experience in managing legal teams
Preferably with exposure to government agencies and energy industry stakeholders
Preferably with working knowledge of project management principles and energy regulatory frameworks
Preferably with a postgraduate diploma or master’s degree relevant to the field
