Position Summary

The Workday HCM Reporting Analyst is responsible for delivering operational reporting within the Workday platform, focusing on hands-on report development to meet both tactical reporting needs and broader business requirements across global and regional teams.

This role involves close collaboration with the People Function and business stakeholders to design, build, and maintain high-quality reports and dashboards that support decision-making. This role will act as a trusted reporting advisor—bringing together technical Workday reporting expertise and strong stakeholder engagement skills. The role is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in HR data analysis who can translate business needs into actionable, accurate, and insightful reports.

Duties and Accountabilities

Here are some of the key responsibilities and tasks associated with the role of a Workday HCM Reporting Analyst:

Report Development & Management

  • Build and maintain custom reports and dashboards using Workday tools such as Report Writer, Calculated Fields, EIB, and Composite/Advanced Reports.
  • Translate business requirements into functional reports and data extracts.
  • Ensure accuracy and usability of reports supporting core HCM modules: Absence, Time Tracking, Talent, Compensation, and Recruiting.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with HR, Technology, and business users to understand and prioritize reporting needs.
  • Provide expert advice on Workday’s reporting capabilities and recommend best practices.
  • Communicate findings and data-driven insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ensure accuracy and usability of reports supporting core HCM modules: Absence, Time Tracking, Talent, Compensation, and Recruiting.

Data Integrity & Compliance

  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with internal policies and data privacy regulations.
  • Work with security leads to manage role-based access and ensure appropriate data visibility.

System Optimization & Support

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to report generation, data discrepancies, and performance.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance reporting processes.
  • Support end-users with training, documentation, and report usage guidance when needed.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of solid experience in HR reporting and data analysis.
  • At least 3+ years of hands-on Workday reporting experience, including Report Writer, Calculated Fields, Composite and Advanced Reports.
  • Familiarity with data privacy, compliance standards, and access control best practices.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of Workday HCM modules and data structures.
  • Ability to create and optimize reports for accuracy, efficiency, and ease of use.
  • Proficiency in translating data into actionable business insights.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a global environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Workday Pro Certification in reporting and / or Workday related modules.
  • Experience with Workday Prism Analytics, People Analytics (Discovery Boards), or visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Exposure to multinational or shared services center environments is a strong advantage.
