Job Description

The objective of the request is to fill the role that will be vacated by the current head of studies and reinsurance due to internal rotation. He/she will oversee the actuarial studies and reinsurance negotiations team composed of 2 individuals: an assistant manager and a senior supervisor.

Responsibilities

Actuarial Studies and Experience Monitoring

  • Lead the design, execution, and interpretation of experience studies (e.g., mortality, morbidity, lapse, expense)
  • Collaborate with pricing, valuation, and regional teams to ensure alignment of assumptions and methodologies
  • Develop dashboards and reporting tools for regular experience monitoring
  • Monitor emerging trends, analyze IFRS17 drivers of earnings and work with inforce management team to develop initiatives to realign actual experience with expectations
  • Communicate findings and impacts to senior management and stakeholders

Reinsurance Negotiations

  • Lead reinsurance strategy development, including treaty structuring, pricing analysis, and partner selection
  • Manage relationships with reinsurers and coordinate negotiation processes
  • Review and update existing treaties to maximize value and ensure partnership with trustworthy reinsurers
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal governance requirements

Required Skills

Actuarial and Reinsurance Expertise: Advanced knowledge of actuarial methodologies and reinsurance structures, with the ability to lead complex studies and treaty negotiations

Leadership and Team Management: Capability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing actuarial teams, fostering collaboration and accountability Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights to support decision-making

Stakeholder Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex actuarial insights and reinsurance strategies to senior management and key stakeholders

Adaptability and Innovation: Comfortable navigating change and uncertainty, with a proactive approach to optimizing processes, exploring new tools, technologies, and methodologies

Experiences And Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
  • At least 10 years of actuarial work experience with minimum 3 years in a leadership role
  • Fellow or near fellow of the Actuarial Society of the Philippines or Society of Actuaries is preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office (including Power BI) and GGY AXIS is preferred
