JOB OVERVIEW

The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the organization’s financial operations, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting, and maintaining strong financial controls and compliance. This role provides leadership across accounting, reporting, and financial governance, while partnering with executive leadership to support strategic decision-making and sustainable business growth.

The Financial Controller plays a key role in financial planning, risk management, and operational efficiency, ensuring that financial processes scale effectively as the business evolves.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Financial Reporting & Close Management
• Lead and manage the end-to-end monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).
• Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial adjustments
• Oversee consolidation and intercompany accounting where applicable.
• Prepare management reports, financial analysis, and variance explanations for leadership.
• Financial Controls & Compliance
• Design, implement, and maintain robust internal controls over financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and tax obligations.
• Coordinate external audits, statutory filings, and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Monitor and mitigate financial risk, ensuring appropriate governance and documentation.
• Maintain accounting policies and procedures aligned with best practices.
• Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes.
• Partner with business leaders to develop budgets aligned with strategic objectives.
• Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, providing insights and recommendations.
• Support scenario modeling and financial impact analysis for business initiatives.
• Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
• Oversee cash flow forecasting, monitoring, and optimization.
• Manage working capital including receivables, payables, and inventory (where applicable).
• Ensure adequate liquidity and effective use of financial resources.
• Support banking relationships and treasury activities.
• Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management
• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team.
• Allocate responsibilities, set performance expectations, and support professional development.
• Partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to provide financial guidance.
• Act as a trusted advisor on financial, operational, and compliance matters.
• Systems, Process & Continuous Improvement
• Oversee financial systems, ERP platforms, and reporting tools.
• Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
• Support system implementations, upgrades, and automation initiatives.
• Improve financial reporting quality, transparency, and decision support.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent) is an advantage.
• Extensive experience in accounting, financial reporting, or controllership roles.
• Proven experience in managing reporting, including monthly and quarterly reports, and month-end close governance.
• Experience in leadership or people management roles is strongly preferred.
• Systems / Tools
• Experience in Xero Accounting Software is highly preferred.
• Knowledge or familiarity with Kaseya, Runn, and other relevant systems is an advantage.
• Experience in Power BI and other reporting platforms is beneficial.
• ERP and financial management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar)
• Financial reporting and consolidation tools

• Advanced proficiency in Excel/spreadsheets
• Business intelligence and reporting tools
