About OneLot

OneLot is a financing company focused on helping used-car dealers grow their businesses through accessible financing solutions. We also provide automotive financing solutions to end customers, supporting a more efficient and accessible used-car market in the Philippines.

About the Role

We're looking for a Corporate Legal Counsel to take ownership of OneLot's legal matters across litigation, contracts, regulatory compliance, and corporate affairs.

This is a hands-on role where you will do more than provide legal advice. You will actively manage cases, draft and negotiate agreements, address regulatory requirements, and work with different teams to resolve legal and operational challenges. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will serve as a key legal adviser to the business, helping OneLot make sound commercial decisions while managing legal risks and protecting the Company's interests.

What You'll Do

Litigation & Dispute Resolution

  • Handle legal disputes and cases involving the Company, including collection-related, commercial, and other legal proceedings.
  • Prepare and file pleadings, complaints, motions, affidavits, demand letters, and other legal documents.
  • Represent the Company in court hearings, mediation, and proceedings before administrative or quasi-judicial bodies, as permitted by applicable rules.
  • Evaluate legal claims, recommend appropriate courses of action, and coordinate with external counsel when necessary.

Contracts & Commercial Legal Support

  • Draft, review, and negotiate financing agreements, loan documents, promissory notes, security agreements, and other commercial contracts.
  • Manage legal documentation for secured transactions, including chattel mortgages and the registration and perfection of security interests.
  • Review agreements with dealers, business partners, vendors, and service providers to protect the Company's interests.

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

  • Advise on compliance with SEC regulations applicable to financing companies, consumer protection requirements, fair debt collection practices, data privacy, and anti-money laundering laws.
  • Review business processes, policies, and practices to identify legal risks and recommend appropriate safeguards.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and help ensure the Company's continuing compliance with applicable laws and reporting requirements.

Corporate & Employment Legal Matters

  • Support corporate governance, including board resolutions, corporate records, licenses, permits, and regulatory filings.
  • Advise the People team on labor and employment matters, including employment contracts, workplace policies, employee discipline, termination, and DOLE compliance.
  • Work closely with Credit, Collections, Sales, Finance, Product, and People teams to provide practical legal guidance on day-to-day business decisions.

What We're Looking For

  • Licensed Philippine lawyer and member of the Philippine Bar in good standing.
  • 2–5 years of relevant legal practice, with hands-on experience in litigation, contract drafting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing pleadings, managing cases, and appearing before courts or administrative bodies.
  • Strong experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial or finance-related agreements.
  • Working knowledge of Philippine corporate and commercial laws, secured transactions, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to independently manage legal matters, assess risks, and provide clear, practical recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Filipino, with sound judgment and discretion.

An Advantage If You Have:

  • Experience as in-house legal counsel or in a law firm handling banking, lending, financing, or fintech clients.
  • Exposure to SEC financing company regulations, debt recovery, secured lending, or collection-related litigation.
  • Experience handling labor disputes, corporate governance, or regulatory compliance matters.
