Position Overview
On behalf of our client, Asiacruit is seeking an experienced and client-focused Tax and Accounting professional to join a busy Australian public practice team. This role will provide tax compliance, accounting, and advisory services for a diverse portfolio of clients, including small to medium enterprises, trusts, partnerships, and not-for-profits. The successful candidate will work closely with senior managers and partners to prepare statutory accounts, tax returns, BAS/IAS, and deliver practical tax advice. Reporting to a Senior Manager, this role offers exposure to varied engagements and opportunities for professional development.

Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Advisory: Prepare and review income tax returns for companies, individuals, trusts, and partnerships. Advise clients on taxation issues including income tax, capital gains tax, payroll tax, and GST. Identify tax planning opportunities and ensure compliance with ATO requirements.
Accounting & Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial statements, management accounts, and statutory accounts in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards. Assist with year-end adjustments, reconciliations, and prepare working papers to support conclusions.
BAS, IAS & Payroll Compliance: Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS), Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), and assist with payroll tax and superannuation reporting. Coordinate with payroll providers and ensure timely lodgements.
Client Engagement & Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication, timely deliverables, and proactive service. Attend client meetings, gather relevant information, and present findings in a client-friendly manner.
Supervision & Process Improvement: Supervise and mentor junior staff, review their work, and provide constructive feedback. Contribute to process improvements and the adoption of cloud accounting and automation tools to enhance efficiency.
Audit & Support: Support external audit and regulatory compliance processes by preparing schedules and responding to audit queries. Assist partners with ad-hoc projects, due diligence, and business advisory tasks as required.
Qualifications
Education & Memberships: Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline. CA/CPA candidacy or full membership is preferred.
Experience: 3+ years of public practice experience in Australia or a comparable environment, with demonstrable experience in tax compliance, BAS preparation, and financial statement preparation.
Technical Skills: Proficient in cloud accounting packages (e.g., Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks Online) and Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with practice management software and tax research tools.
Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of Australian taxation law, GST, BAS, payroll tax, superannuation obligations, and reporting deadlines.
Attention to Detail & Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to present technical information clearly to clients and colleagues.
Eligibility to Work: Right to work in Australia is required.
