Build your Australian accounting career with the right support. We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior AU Tax and Business Advisory Accountant to support our growing team. This role is ideal for an early-career accountant who is eager to strengthen their Australian tax, compliance, accounting, and advisory experience in a collaborative firm environment.

Work Setup: Hybrid 3x a week onsite - Alphaland Corporate Tower, Makati City.

Role Overview

In this role, you will assist with Australian tax compliance, general accounting, bookkeeping support, and business advisory tasks. You will work closely with senior accountants to prepare accurate workpapers, maintain clean records in Xero, meet client deadlines, and develop the technical skills needed for long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities

Support Tax & Compliance: Assist in preparing BAS and IAS returns, year-end financial statements, working papers, and Australian income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships where applicable.

Assist with FBT and Standards Compliance: Support the preparation of Fringe Benefits Tax returns, ensure work aligns with Australian taxation and accounting standards, and maintain accurate supporting documentation.

Keep Accounts Accurate: Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations, process journals, complete month-end accounting tasks, and maintain accounting records within Xero.

Support Bookkeeping and General Ledger Work: Assist with bookkeeping, general ledger maintenance, and discrepancy identification, escalating issues where appropriate.

Back Senior Accountants: Support senior team members in meeting client deadlines, preparing deliverables, and keeping workflows organised and accurate.

Contribute to Advisory Work: Assist in preparing management reports, financial analysis, budgeting, cash flow, forecasting activities, and gathering financial data for advisory engagements.

Improve the Way We Work: Contribute to process improvements, administrative efficiencies, and collaborative ways of working across the team.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1–2 years of accounting experience supporting Australian clients; graduates with relevant internship experience or Australian accounting exposure may also be considered.
  • Basic understanding of Australian taxation and accounting principles.
  • Experience or exposure to preparing BAS, IAS, financial statements, and individual and company tax returns.
  • Proficiency in Xero, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Well-organised with effective time management skills.
  • Willingness to learn and work collaboratively within a team.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to trust tax returns and FBT preparation.
  • Experience with bookkeeping and bank reconciliations.
  • Familiarity with Xero Practice Manager or similar practice management software.
  • Exposure to management reporting tools such as Spotlight Reporting or Sift Analytics.
  • Currently studying towards, or planning to pursue, CA or CPA qualifications.
