The Project Cost Engineer is responsible for the monitoring, planning, and review of project related costs. The position forms part of the Employer’s Wind Construction team and includes support to several SPV organizations while strictly adhering to and implementing Vena’s standards of leadership in promotion of best practice.
Key Responsibilities
Review project progress against cost spent.
Provide cost control support for all wind projects such as variation reporting, monitoring of milestone progress, processing of contractor billings, and monitoring of contractor payments.
Responsible for verifying and checking invoices and claims from suppliers, vendors and contractors to ensure that payments are aligned with contract requirements.
Ensure that all cost related files are uploaded and kept in the respective project Sharepoint folders.
Perform technical and commercial review of contractor proposals for the preparation of Service Agreements
Ensure effective project implementation and utilize productive reports from the creation of WBS with the use of project management system to monitor the status of all contracts, invoicing, and delivery up to the closure of the projects
Coordinate and work with the project management team to resolve project issues to ensure the delivery / completion of the project work
Attend project meetings and discussions with the project team and external parties
Create project cost reports and provides information to the construction team and management for review / action.
Identification and timely notification to management on potential risks which may impact the project.
Promotes budget awareness and contributes in the management process, working within a multi-cultural environment and identifying critical activities and advising corrective action to avoid mitigate delays and risks.
Pre-requisites
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering
5 years relevant experience as Cost Engineer
Must have experience working as part of a construction team / a construction Project.
Able to generate reports
Exceptionally well organized with an aptitude for data
Strong presentation skills, able to explain concepts concisely and accurately
Creative thinking skills and ability to solve problems
Able to develop strong, cooperative relationships
Ability to create structure in a hectic and chaotic project environment
Ability to conduct business communication in all situations
Ability to recommend solutions based on facts and in coordination with project team
Willing to travel and open for short-term assignment to project sites as needed.
