Job Title: Actuarial Supervisor, Research

Department: Valuation and Research

Reports to (Position of Immediate Superior): Actuarial Assistant Manager

Supervises (Positions of Subordinates): Actuarial Assistant

Primary Job Responsibility

Accountable for analyzing and reviewing all ad hoc and regular reports such as profitability studies and

estimate studies of IBNR reserves

Supervises Both Processes And People

  • Process responsibilities include activities such as:
  • Work Unit Planning and Implementation
  • Task Assignment and Scheduling
  • Budget Allocation and Control
  • Problem-solving and Decision-making
  • Monitoring and Evaluating Results
  • Escalating issues and/or risks
  • People responsibilities include activities such as:
  • Developing Team and Individual Skills and Capabilities
  • Mentoring, Coaching and Job-shadowing
  • Engaging and Motivating employees
  • Rating Performance Reviews
  • Monitoring and providing feedback on day-to-day performance
  • Counseling and carrying out Disciplinary Activity

I. Job Description

  • Duties and Responsibilities done at PERIODIC or REGULAR Intervals
  • Reviews and assigns regular and ad hoc reports to the Actuarial Assistant
  • Reviews and submits finalized regular and ad hoc reports to the Immediate Superior for disposition
  • Reviews and submits reviewed drafts of memoranda on IBNR estimate to Immediate Superior
  • Duties and Responsibilities done at IRREGULAR or INTERMITTENT Intervals
  • Reviews and prepares template required on ad hoc reports to be used by the Actuarial Assistant
  • Reviews, responds to concerned parties on any issues which may arise from the requested ad

hoc reports

  • Reviews reports including comments, recommendations and analysis, submitted by the Actuarial

Assistants and provides inputs, when necessary

  • Collates data and prepares presentation materials of Finalized ad hoc reports to the AVP and

VP for Actuarial

  • Reviews and responds to queries regarding regular and ad hoc reports
  • Reviews and recommends modifications on the Desk Manual of the regular reports revised upon

approval and forwards to Immediate superiors for approval

  • Collaborates with the ICT or with the provider on automation projects affecting Actuarial

Research Team

  • Participates during third party and in-house audit walkthrough on regular reports
  • STANDARD RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENTS

✓ Performs other RELATED functions that may be assigned BY THE IMMEDIATE SUPERIOR

Job Qualifications

  • College Graduate of 4, 5 year-course, preferably: BS Math or Statistics
  • More than one (1) year - Less than three (3) years of relevant experience
  • Skilled in the following: people management, customer focus, results focus, continuing development of self and others, collaborative, innovative, computer proficiency, analytical, detail oriented, actuarial, etc.
