Job Summary:


The Civil Engineering Manager will work closely with the Technical Team, Business Development Team and external stakeholders such as consultants and EPC contractors to prepare and oversee the development of drawings, specifications and designs for all civil and structural technical aspects of wind and solar power plants, in support of development and pre-construction bid and estimate efforts. It is expected that the role will be handling multiple projects simultaneously.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Prepare preliminary and detailed analysis and design documents for civil systems associated with utility-scale wind and solar projects, including but not limited to road designs, stormwater management design and drainage reports, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, foundation design, among others;
  • Review design requirements, plans and specifications for constructability and risk management;
  • Provide technical evaluation and due diligence of wind turbine foundation and other structural technology;
  • Plan, coordinate with contractors and review geotechnical survey campaigns;
  • Prepare and review reports, proposals, BOQ and cost estimates for civil related activities.
  • Assist with project management and procurement processes, including budgets, schedules, scope of work and stakeholder relations (i.e. consultants, contractors, etc.)
  • Assist with the coordination of technical activities and designs with personnel in other business units and departments within the local office;
  • Assist the Senior Managers and the General Manager in preparing the conceptual, preliminary and final designs;
  • Attend meetings with clients, consultants and EPC contractors to coordinate and supervise various civil design activities;
  • Manage solar and wind turbine foundation and structural designers and/or EPC contractors as the case may be, including necessary workshops, and proper 3rd party review to ensure suitable designs in accordance with company interests;
  • Visit operational and under construction wind and solar projects as necessary to provide technical support of civil related issues and oversee the work done by contractors, aiming to ensure compliance of the execution according to the design specifications;
  • Mentor junior staff
  • Assist with other duties that may be assigned


Pre-requisites:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Civil Engineer required).
  • 8–12 years of relevant experience in geotechnical, structural, civil engineering of infrastructure projects
  • Experience with civil designs for utility-scale renewable energy projects preferably or, alternatively, with roads, foundations and above-ground structural designs for other industries
  • Thorough understanding of structural and civil building code factors and analyses thereof;
  • Proficiency with civil and structural related processes and computer software (i.e. AutoCAD Civil 3D, STAAD Pro and/or others, FE modeling, etc.) is desirable.
  • Experience with power plant, substation and transmission line projects is desirable
  • Excellent coordination, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness to conduct site visits and interface directly with utility representatives and contractors
