Job Description

As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic 10N25, you will play a critical role in ensuring the operational readiness and safety of heavy equipment used in various industries, including construction, mining, transportation, and more. Your expertise will allow you to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment such as bulldozers, cranes, graders, and other machinery. Precision and safety are your top priorities as you work to prevent mechanical failures that could disrupt business operations and compromise workplace safety. The ideal candidate is well-versed in hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, with a keen ability to troubleshoot diverse mechanical issues. You will work independently or as part of a team, utilizing cutting-edge technology and tools to keep the equipment functioning smoothly and efficiently.


Responsibilities

  • Inspect heavy equipment for defects and problems to ensure safe operation.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using technical manuals.
  • Repair and replace damaged or worn out parts to maintain machinery efficiency.
  • Maintain detailed service records of equipment inspections and repairs.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating parts.
  • Test repaired machinery to verify operational performance and safety compliance.
  • Collaborate with other technicians to develop strategies for complex repairs.
  • Keep up-to-date with new technologies and equipment advancements in the field.
  • Order parts and supplies necessary for equipment maintenance in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to industry best practices and safety standards during repairs.
  • Provide guidance and training to less experienced mechanics or apprentices.
  • Assist in the development of maintenance schedules to prevent equipment failure.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in mechanical repair and maintenance of heavy equipment.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing complex hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Physical stamina and ability to work in various environments and weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record; CDL may be required.
