About Abbott European Distribution Center

The European Distribution center in Machelen distributes products for the medical device division of Abbott. The EDC handles products from CRM, EP, HF, SH and NM and ships these to all region’s outside of the US.

The DC was expanded earlier this year and is now 20.000m² large. Products (4,6 MM) per year are delivered to more than 5000 customers in over 120 countries.

About The Role

We are looking for a Quality Specialist to join our Quality team in Machelen. In this role, you will have end-to-end responsibility for quality-related processes and act as a key interface between suppliers, manufacturing, and internal stakeholders. The position combines administrative responsibilities with hands-on, operational quality work and requires a strong quality mindset and excellent communication skills.

You will be part of a team of four Quality Specialists, reporting into the Quality organization, and working closely with QA Operations and Manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

As a Quality Specialist, you will be responsible for the overall quality process related to products and suppliers, including :

  • Managing stop-ship processes, including communication with affiliates across different countries
  • Following up on required quality and compliance documentation and reporting back to Manufacturing
  • Managing non-conforming (NC) material across inbound, outbound, production, and return flows, and acting as the main communication point with the business
  • Supplier quality management and follow-up
  • Coordination of calibration and validation of equipment
  • Ensuring quality compliance in all matters related to the product
  • Executing a significant amount of administrative quality work, including documentation and reporting
  • Performing operational quality activities, including going to the floor to understand products and processes together with operators
  • Taking ownership of the entire quality process within scope and driving continuous improvement
  • Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to ensure high quality standards are maintained

Requirements

Education & qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science, Quality Systems, or a related field
  • Experience in a quality environment is a strong advantage

Experience & Skills

  • Strong MS Office skills
  • Power BI knowledge is a plus
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A structured way of working and a clear quality mindset
  • Team-oriented and collaborative approach

Language Skills

  • Fluent English is mandatory
  • Knowledge of eighter French or Dutch is considered a strong asset
