Job Description

As an Assistant Accountant, the role will involve performing transactional accounting tasks, including journal entries, accounts payable, and general month-end tasks to finalize accounts every month. Provide support to the Finance Manager and wider team by assisting with day-to-day accounting tasks, month-end processes, reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with accounts payable function for branches, ensuring data accuracy and encouraging the team to use Continia.
  • Identify areas for process optimisation within the accounts payable function and lead initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Collaborate with other departments to streamline the accounts payable process.
  • Reporting on month results and confirming all transactions are recorded in the general ledger.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare standard reports, spreadsheets, and analyses as requested.
  • Prepare and maintain bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and supplier accounts when needed.
  • Assist with journals, including prepayments, Credit Cards, Corporate traveller, and reclassifications.
  • Support the Finance Manager with month-end close and reporting deadlines.
  • Maintain supporting documents for audit compliance.
  • Provide schedules and documentation for internal and external audit requirements.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries professionally.
  • Support ad-hoc finance tasks, projects, and team activities as required.

Requirements

  • CPA or working towards
  • Degree in Finance/Accounting

Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar role within a medium to large multinational business (+$150 mil revenue)
  • Intermediate Excel skills – Pivot Tables / Vlookup
  • Experience working in a high-pressure corporate environment with numerous stakeholders

Skills – Technical

Excellent written, verbal, and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage across different levels of management

Outstanding critical thinking capability with advances problem solving skills

Intermediate Excel Skills Essential

Strong understanding of accounting principles

Strong analytical and numerical skills, with close attention to detail, with focus on quality and accuracy

Proficiency in accounting software (ERP), Business Central

Skills – Behavioural
