Job Role: The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of work performed in the welding department within our manufacturing centers. This role is critical to verify that final products adhere to engineering drawings, specifications, and company quality standards. The Quality Inspector will play a key role in maintaining product integrity and customer satisfaction.
Key Duties
Inspect welded components and assemblies to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and company quality standards.
Perform dimensional checks, visual weld inspections, and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods where applicable.
Review weld quality for defects such as cracks, porosity, undercutting, and improper fusion.
Use precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, weld gauges, and other tools to confirm tolerances and specifications.
Document inspection results, deviations, and non-conformities clearly and accurately.
Work closely with welders, engineers, and production supervisors to communicate quality concerns and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Assist with root cause analysis (RCA) and collaborate with the team on process improvements to prevent recurring defects.
Maintain detailed quality inspection records for traceability and compliance with company policies and industry standards.
Monitor compliance with welding procedures, including proper materials, techniques, and machine settings.
Perform in-process inspections to address quality issues during production.
Follow safety protocols and promote safe work practices within the manufacturing environment.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in welding, quality control, or a related field preferred.
3+ years of experience in quality inspection, welding, or related roles in a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols (ANSI/AWS/ISO standards).
Knowledge of welding techniques, processes (GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SMAW), and quality control principles.
Experience with precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to document and communicate inspection results clearly and concisely.
Basic computer skills for data entry, reporting, and document management.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with production teams and engineering.
Preferences
Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.
Prior experience as a welder; pipe welding highly preferred.
