What Is This Role About

The Editorial Manager, K12 International Product owns the editorial process to ensure the quality and academic integrity of McGraw Hill’s international K12 products. The editorial manager leads resourcing for projects as they arise, and mentors resources as needed for successful project delivery. The role leads editorial operations for K12 print and digital products and service solutions for international customers in governmental and private segments. The editorial manager defines and maintains documents such as style guides per project and content development templates to ensure a balance of speed and consistent editorial criteria across projects.

What you will be doing:

  • Plan and coordinate editorial work on PK-12 products across international business regions, including U.S. curriculum, Center of Excellence-generated product, local initiatives, government and institutional deals, and English Language Teaching
  • Develop content and perform or supervise editorial tasks for international publishing projects, working with SMEs, writers, and other vendors to deliver timely, high-quality content that is fit for purpose.
  • Create and maintain style guides and other editorial documentation.
  • Coordinate communication and collaboration around curriculum, academic design, and content development with key stakeholders to develop solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Build and maintain capacity for editorial work at any stage of the editorial process and across all K12 subject areas.
  • Train, mentor, and provide feedback to freelancers and junior in-house staff on guidelines and expectations around content development, documentation, and planning.
  • Determine work capacity, delegate and allocate work across team members, and present business case for additional resources as needed.
  • Balance customer requirements, cultural sensitivities, and corporate policies when developing content for international products.
  • Proactive in anticipating, evaluating, and solving for issues to avoid disruptions in workflow.
  • Proficiency, growing into expertise, on McGraw Hill digital authoring tools and proprietary customer-facing platforms
  • Test and document approved GenAI tools and other content acceleration initiatives, seeking opportunities for appropriate deployment of new technology in workflows
  • Long-term deals in the government sector in the range of $10 million annual revenue.
  • Private market adaptations ranging from $2-$5 million in annual revenue.
  • Highly dynamic workload with ever-changing priorities amidst immovable deadlines.

What you need to be considered:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or higher in education, educational publishing, English, or combination of education and equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in an editorial capacity in American English with K12 education products or curriculum development, including content specifically for the Middle East.
  • Expertise in both digital and print delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience managing priorities in a fast-paced environment and responding quickly to changing needs.
  • Exquisite attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality results.
  • Adaptable team player with a collaborative mindset and a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Confident, objective, inquisitive, motivated self-starter.
  • Awareness of competitive landscape across PK-12 within international contexts.
