Role Overview:

The Group Head of Legal is responsible for developing and leading the organization’s legal strategy, ensuring robust governance, and effective risk management across all legal operations. This role acts as a key advisor to the Board of Directors, and senior leadership team, supporting strategic decision-making and safeguarding the company’s legal and ethical integrity.


Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement the company’s overall legal strategy aligned with business objectives
  • Advise the CEO, Board, and executive team on legal, and governance matters
  • Promote strong corporate governance and ethical standards across the organization

Legal & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies (i.e., GDPR, MiFID, MiFIR)
  • Design and implement internal control frameworks
  • Monitor and interpret changes in legislation and assess business impact
  • Liaise with government authorities

Risk Management

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks
  • Provide proactive legal advice on business operations and strategic initiatives
  • Oversee data privacy and intellectual property protection

Corporate Governance & Administration

  • Advise on board governance matters and corporate structure
  • Manage corporate filings, statutory records, and documentation
  • Develop and enforce internal legal policies and procedures

Commercial & Transactional Support

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic transactions
  • Provide legal guidance on commercial and operational matters

Disputes & External Counsel Management

  • Oversee litigation, disputes, and regulatory investigations
  • Manage relationships with and supervise external legal counsel
  • Ensure cost-effective use of external legal resources

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the legal team
  • Oversee legal department operations and performance
  • Manage the legal department budget and control external legal costs

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified lawyer with a valid practicing certificate
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant legal experience, with significant leadership exposure preferably in the CFD industry.
  • Advance and AML CySEC Certificates considered as advantage
  • Strong expertise in corporate law, governance, compliance, and risk management
  • Experience in managing complex legal matters, including M&A and litigation
  • Proven ability to operate at executive and board level
