Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Tax Accountant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will prepare and review tax returns, financial statements, and compliance documents for a range of entities, including companies, trusts, partnerships, and group structures. You will ensure adherence to Australian tax legislation while collaborating closely with clients and internal teams to provide accurate and insightful financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare income tax returns and financial statements for companies, discretionary and unit trusts, partnerships, and group structures, including inter-entity transactions.
  • Prepare and review Business Activity Statements (BAS), including GST reconciliations, PAYG Withholding, and PAYG Installments.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian taxation legislation, ATO requirements, and applicable accounting standards.
  • Assist with year-end compliance processes, including preparation of work papers, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Liaise with internal teams and clients to gather necessary information and clarify tax and accounting matters.
  • Identify, analyze, and escalate tax issues, discrepancies, or compliance risks as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and well-documented working papers in accordance with firm standards and best practices.

Requirements Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience at an Australian accounting firm.
  • Hands-on experience preparing:
    • Company tax returns and financial statements
    • Trust and partnership tax returns
    • Consolidated or group-based structures
    • Strong experience with BAS, including GST and PAYG obligations.
    • Solid understanding of Australian tax law and compliance requirements.
    • Proficient in Australian accounting and tax software (e.g., Xero, XPM, APS).
