UCT is looking for a talented Buyer II to join us in Cebu!

The Buyer II is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and expediting materials and commodities from approved suppliers, both locally and internationally. This role ensures timely delivery and quality compliance, negotiates pricing and commercial terms, and executes cost reduction initiatives. The Buyer II also manages supplier performance through scorecard programs and supports key objectives in inventory control, cost optimization, and material availability to drive operational efficiency and supply chain excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for buying, sourcing, and expediting materials and commodities from approved vendor lists both locally and overseas.
  • Expertise with NPI procurement preferred
  • Ensure on-time delivery of materials from suppliers and meet quality requirements.
  • Negotiate pricing and commercial terms with local and overseas suppliers
  • Execute cost reduction initiatives.
  • Maintain, monitor, and provide feedback on suppliers’ scorecard programs for cost, delivery, and quality
  • Work towards achieving given objectives/KPI such as inventory management, MRB, RVN, cost reduction, materials availability, and quality management
  • Support, execute, and provide inputs to improve Supply Chain initiatives and strategies.
  • Continuously optimize MPV by reducing the cost of materials and by limiting unfavorable PPV
  • Understand suppliers, their capabilities, market trends, and technologies for assigned commodities.
  • Work with Materials Quote Analysts to quote new and existing materials. Frequently requote and negotiate to capitalize on cost reduction opportunities.
  • Makes tactical buying decisions.
  • Invoice resolution for payment approvals
  • Orders, reschedules, and cancels material based on requisitions and MRP output
  • Maintains procurement records, documentation, and metrics
  • Follow up with logistics to receive materials in the warehouse
  • Other duties as required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • SAP (Or other ERP systems)
  • Ability to communicate with internal and external customers
  • Ability to communicate with local and international suppliers
  • Ability to operate a personal computer, including using a Windows-based operating system, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables

Educational/Certification Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Management / Business / Materials /Industrial Engineering
  • APICS preferred.

Work Experience:

  • At least 2 years of working experience in purchasing or materials areas
  • Knowledge of MRP system
  • Able to perform in a fast-paced environment; Preferably with experience from a manufacturing environment
  • Possess good interpersonal and negotiation skills

  • Ability to kneel, reach, walk, push, pull, and grasp.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

  • Prolonged sitting with some standing and bending intermittently during work hours.
  • Subject to interruptions

Environmental Exposure:

  • Required to wear personal protective equipment where applicable.
  • Subject to frequent interruptions.
  • The ability to talk on the phone and use a computer for extended periods may be required.
  • May involve exposure to moderate noise levels from printers, faxes, computers, etc.

Overnight Travel:

  • Work may require out-of-town travel depending upon assignment (training and meeting).
