The Opportunity

Join our production team as a Press Assistant, where you will support press operators in achieving quick, efficient make‑readies for multicolor flexographic printing presses. You will help set up, repair, and maintain press equipment, ensuring high‑quality output and smooth production flow. This role is essential to maintaining safety, efficiency, and accuracy within the press department.

How You Will Impact Smurfit WestRock

• Review job tickets and select the correct type and quantity of materials needed for production.
• Assist in material changeovers and ensure materials are prepared, organized, and ready for upcoming runs.
• Clean and maintain press equipment and surrounding common areas to support a safe and efficient workspace.
• Move printed and unprinted stock as necessary to support production workflow.
• Assist press operators with preventative maintenance and basic equipment care.
• Follow established standard operating procedures for all tasks.
• Complete required documentation accurately and on time.
• Assemble print cylinders and gears used in the press process.
• Perform and review line clearance procedures.
• Remove waste from the press area and maintain cleanliness standards.
• Work safely and efficiently in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
  
  

What You Need To Succeed

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Ability to read and understand measurements using a ruler.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
• Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
