Role Overview:
TP ICAP / Liquidnet APAC is seeking an Head of Production to lead it’s APAC organisation of approximately 10 staff across three teams in Hong Kong, Sydney, Tokyo and India. This role is central to ensuring the stability, performance, and continual evolution of Liquidnet’s production environment across Equities and Listed Derivatives, including the CoEx and ICAP RV businesses. The successful candidate will be an exceptionally organised and resilient leader who thrives in high‑pressure situations, can think clearly during major incidents, and can direct both technical and business stakeholders while managing a high volume of concurrent initiatives.
Beyond day‑to‑day operational oversight, the APAC Head of Production plays a pivotal role in advancing Liquidnet’s global production strategy. Working in close partnership with counterparts across EMEA and AMRS, this role contributes to the transformation of the production ecosystem through the adoption of automation, AI‑driven tooling, cloud migration, SRE principles, and modern DevOps practices. The position also acts as a key gatekeeper for production releases, ensuring robust controls, operational readiness, and alignment with Group Production standards.
A critical component of the role is accountability for regional Operational Resiliency. This includes strengthening disaster recovery capabilities, improving observability and incident‑response tooling, reducing Mean Time to Resolve (MTTR), and proactively minimising incidents through continuous improvement and preventative engineering.
The APAC Head of Production will lead and influence a wide range of transformation initiatives, chair and participate in global working groups, and help drive a unified vision across the global Production organisation. Role Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall stability and management of production systems across the APAC Liquidnet, CoEx, and ICAP RV businesses, spanning Equities algorithmic trading, Equities block trading, and high / low touch Listed Derivatives workflows.
- Oversee the performance and integrity of algorithmic Equities trading platforms across Liquidnet APAC, ensuring alignment with necessary production standards.
- Actively participate and drive incident management, particularly where impact is high. This will include guidance during incidents involving algorithmic order routing, coordinating technical and business teams to rapidly diagnose and resolve issues in high-pressure, time sensitive environments.
- Conduct post-mortems and ensure problem management tasks are completed
- Manage the various teams & team leads within the Liquidnet APAC Production team and ensure coverage is maintained across core hours
- Develop and coach members of the team to realise their full potential
- Collaborate with other regional heads on outages and project initiatives, influencing Production strategy both in APAC and across the Global Liquidnet organisation
- Enforce operational procedures and standards across the APAC team, adhering to global standards
- Manage the governance of various operational risks in APAC, particularly around change control and facilitating internal / external audit requests
- Stakeholder management across APAC business functions, and produce and present metrics and updates to various forums
- Author client-facing post-mortem reports and face off to clients where required
- Drive operational resilience projects to ensure system and team readiness for outages
- Contribute towards the design and build of new systems and tooling prior to production
- Coordinate and run out-of-hours disaster recovery testing
- Ensure all applications and infrastructure on which Liquidnet business depends are appropriately monitored
- Ensure client onboarding pipeline is managed effectively and efficiently
Experience / Competences:
Essential:
- Deep understanding of APAC (including Asean) Equities markets with a practical knowledge of algorithmic trading workflows, including the behaviour, lifecycle, and risk controls of execution algos used across the APAC markets
- Experience running and developing high functioning support teams within Financial Services
- Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, including monitoring, incident response, and post-mortem analysis
- Capable of balancing multiple conflicting priorities and managing stakeholder expectations honestly and appropriately
- Demonstrated ability to scale production operations through automation and tooling
- Demonstrable applied knowledge of supporting business critical technology implementations from a production context
- Effective communicator with an ability to adapt communication style to suit audience and context
- Strong relationship building and networking skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Experience in providing technical expertise to Sales teams, clients and vendors
Desirable:
- Practical understanding of global Listed Derivatives markets and system workflows
- Strong understanding of DevOps principles and practices, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC), and automated testing
- Experience with automation and AI operations best practices, leveraging automated remediation, intelligent alerting, and data‑driven incident prevention to enhance production stability and reduce operational toil
- Proven experience in managing cloud-based infrastructure and services, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience working within an ITIL framework, ideally with ITIL Foundation qualification
- Exposure to observability tooling (Grafana, Prometheus, Elastic, etc)
- Exposure to supporting message-based architecture (Solace, TIBCO, etc)
- Solid application support experience within a Unix / Linux environment
- Working knowledge of the FIX protocol
