Job Description

The Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM) is a dedicated museum that showcases the exquisite artefacts from Palace Museum’s collections and collaborates with other museums in research, exhibitions, education and public programmes. The museum comprises 7 800 square metres of gallery space for standing and special exhibitions on Palace Museum’s collections of paintings, calligraphy, antiquities and historical objects, as well as thematic displays on world cultures and civilisations.

(This is a fixed-term contract position of 1-year with possibility for renewal subject to organisational needs and individual performance.)

You Will Be Responsible For

  • assisting the Museum’s Exhibition Planning and Management Team to execute the HKPM’s exhibition plan, including drafting of exhibition proposals and contracts; managing exhibit lists; preparing and monitoring exhibition schedules including packing, shipping, object installation and deinstallation; preparing documents for fine art insurance and customs formalities; coordinating multiple departments’ effort to ensure the timely and successful delivery of exhibitions and related programmes;
  • marking travel and hospitality arrangement for museum couriers and delegation including accommodation and per diem to meet contractual obligations and internal administration procedures;
  • assisting the team in organising and documenting exhibition planning meetings as necessary to ensure good information flow and smooth delivery of each exhibition; and
  • performing any duties from time to time as reasonably as assigned by HKPM.

You Should

  • possess a recognised university degree in relevant fields such as art history, museum studies, education, arts administration, cultural management or other relevant disciplines;
  • preferably have 2 years of work experience in exhibition planning, management, and implementation or comparable project management experience gained in other fields;
  • have outstanding ability and proactive attitude to work under pressure to meet deadlines and manage multiple complex projects concurrently;
  • have excellent communication, organisational and diplomatic skills especially when working with large teams with diversified perspectives and cultural background; and
  • possess strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in both English and Chinese; knowledge of Cantonese and Putonghua is an advantage.
