The Product Development Scientist will be part of the Product Development team within the North American Nonwovens Science and Technology organization. You will develop new and innovative non-woven products that deliver value to our building materials customers. This role will interface across all levels of the Nonwovens business and partner with internal and external stakeholders to define and scope projects, develop solutions, scale up, and launch products. This position is located at the Granville, OH, Science and Technology campus.

Reports to: North American Product Development Leader
Job Responsibilities
Product Development
Serve as the technical lead for customer focused projects from inception to manufacturing
Engage with customer’s technical team to identify growth opportunities, anticipate market needs, and provide technical support
Partner with commercial, marketing, and operations colleagues to successfully develop and launch products
Manage projects utilizing the Stage-Gate process and project management tools
Partner with Intellectual Property and Strategic Marketing to develop strategy and control points for our technology
Design and conduct lab experiments to drive technical solutions.

Collaborate internally and externally to accelerate technical solutions and fundamental understanding

Utilize project management tools for well-structured project execution
Leverages data analytics to drive efficiently drive decisions
Job Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
MS degree in chemistry, materials science, or polymer/chemical engineering
1+ year of experience formulating products in an R&D setting
Background in building materials, coatings, adhesives, or other polymer product development
Ability to travel at 30%
Preferred Experience
PhD degree in chemistry, materials science, or polymer/chemical engineering
Background in nonwoven/paper technologies
Background in coating, adhesive, or binder development
Project management and stage gate experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team
Understanding of data analytics and DOE background – JMP or Minitab experience preferred
Self-starter who works with minimal supervision and balances project workload
Demonstrated ability to learn across multiple technical fields
Must be able to partner horizontally across the organization
Comfortable working in a lab and manufacturing environment
