General Counsel - Senior Vice President

We are seeking a General Counsel to lead the company’s legal affairs and serve as a trusted advisor at executive level.

You are working in close partnership with the President and CEO ensuring that governance processes, board operations and legal oversight are executed to the highest standards. The role is central to corporate governance, risk management and decision making, with direct responsibility for supporting the Board of Directors, its committees and TVO’s Management Teams. The role carries a clear development and transformation mandate for the legal function.

Key elements of the role include:

• overall responsibility for the development and leadership of legal affairs, including governance, compliance and legal risk management
• supporting and implementing the governance of the company
• preparing Board materials together with the President and CEO and ensuring execution of the Board’s annual work plan
• acting as company advisor to the Board’s Committees
• chairing the Legal Committee supporting executive management
• acting as an active member of the Management Team
• collaborating on national and international stakeholders

• commercially pragmatic and business minded in your thinking
• senior legal professional with strong leadership ability to lead legal function and influence and collaborate with all stakeholders
• competent to operate and lead your team and external networks in a highly regulated and complex environment
• expert with regulations, laws and code of conduct of listed companies
• professional in corporate and contract law
• skilled in crisis management and risk mitigation
• familiar with energy industry and regulatory issues within it
• fluent in Finnish and English
